Sanghrise in Bengal: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) crosses 2/3 mark, TMC no more Mamata

0

孟加拉的 Sanghrise:印度人民党 (BJP) 突破 2/3 大关,TMC 不再有 MamataThe Trinamool Congress party’s bastion fell under the twin attacks of fierce anti-incumbency forces and the SIR process that slashed nearly 12% of the electoral roll, handing a historic victory to the BJP in a state often seen as the last stand for the party that has been in power at the Center since 2014.The BJP won 206 seats and led by 1 seat with 45.8% of the votes. The TMC’s vote share slipped to 40.8% from 48% in 2021, taking its 215 seats to 81 in the outgoing assembly (which it won and led before midnight), signaling a sharp shift from a party that espoused Bengali nativism over nationalist politics. With the BJP sweeping large swathes of the state from north to south, only a few TMC strongholds such as South 24 Parganas, East Burdwan and Howrah can stem the vote drain. The saffron party was almost completely dominant in the north, while the TMC was completely wiped out in Jhargram, Purulia and East Midnapur in the south-west.The coup de grace was the surge of saffron voters among urban and suburban voters in Kolkata and its fringes – Mamata’s southern bastion – where she occupied 123 of the 142 seats. The number shrunk to 52 as the TMC lost 10 seats in a swath of Kolkata (including Mamata’s own Babanipur), North 24 Parganas (including Panihati, where the mother of the raped and murdered RG Kar junior doctor was a BJP candidate) and Howrah.

Chirayu Rana 在 2024 年因父亲去世而请假,但他的父亲还活着;称他对摩根大通之争一无所知

Chirayu Rana, who brought sexual assault charges against Lorna Hajdini (left), took a leave of absence due to the death of his father in 2024, but his father is still alive, a report said.

Chirayu Rana’s father, Chaitanya Rana, responded to his son’s argument and told the New York Post that he was unaware of the sexual abuse case Chirayu filed against JPMorgan Chase executive Lorna Hajdini. But even more interestingly, the Washington Post discovered that Chirayu claimed that his father died in mid-December 2024 and that he took time off to be with his family. While Post cites the source of this information, they claim they contacted Chirayu’s family and discovered his father was alive and well. He said Chirayu did not reveal any information about the case to them.“I don’t know anything about it. He didn’t talk to us or anything,” Chaitanya Rana told The Washington Post. “He’s my son. He’s a good man.”The report called Chirayu a liar and said he was allowed to work remotely when he informed his superiors that his father was seriously ill. The report quoted people familiar with the matter as saying that he had exhausted a series of leave benefits between early March and the end of May last year, when a preliminary draft complaint was sent to the bank’s legal team.“Around November 2024, the plaintiff’s father passed away and he went to his parents’ home in Virginia,” it read, according to a source with direct knowledge of its contents. “The company believed he was addressing some issues,” one source said. “You could tell he was trying to game the system.”Attorney Greg Chiarello prepared documents from May 2024 that also claimed Lana’s mother, Baruna, was ill.In late 2025, Chirayu left JPMorgan Chase to join investment firm Bregal Sagemount before leaving on April 2, 2026. In late April 2026, he filed a civil lawsuit in New York County Supreme Court under the alias “John Doe,” alleging that executive director Lorna Hajdini, 37, drugged him with Rohypnol and Viagra, forced him to perform degrading sexual acts, and threatened his career if he refused.JPMorgan disputed his claims and said Chirayu never reported to Hajdini.

H-1B抽签7次失败,移居加拿大:印度裔微软技术人员通过EB-1获得绿卡

An Indian-origin techie shares her story of being rejected seven times in the H-1B visa lottery but then receiving a green card through the EB-1 program.

Aishani B, a Microsoft technician of Indian origin, shares her story of becoming a permanent resident of the United States after years of trying to obtain an H-1B visa. In a LinkedIn post, Ashani shared her experience of constantly trying for a work visa every year between 2019 and 2025, but not once being successful.Ashani shared her feelings about being rejected many times. She said that the first rejection was difficult, and she had rational thoughts when she was rejected the second time, but after that there was nothing new to say. At the same time, she moved to Canada from the United States in 2022 and returned to the United States in 2023 on an L1 visa.“People ask me how it feels. Honestly? The first rejection stings. The second, you rationalize it. By the third, fourth, fifth time, you stop telling people. Not because you’re ashamed. But because there’s nothing new to say. What no one tells you about repeated failure: It’s not a moment of disappointment. It’s the slow, quiet erosion of certainty,” she wrote.“Am I good enough? Will someone else find out now? How long do I have to keep trying?” she added.By 2025, she got green card Through EB1, this is for individuals with extraordinary abilities. Ashani said she never thought she would qualify, especially after seven rejections, but she did.“Because there was nothing special about me losing the draw over and over again. She felt exhausted. What keeps her going? Quietly believe there is a reason for this. There is also a stubbornness that refuses to understand what it feels like to give up. Seven losses doesn’t mean none. What they mean is: not so. If you’re counting the number of times you’ve been rejected right now – the numbers aren’t the key to the story. What you build in between is,” Ashani wrote. The techie often shares tidbits about immigration on her LinkedIn. In a previous article, she talked about how immigrants are always somewhere in between. In India, they were the ones who left; In the United States, she writes, they were immigrant engineers, and in Canada they started all over again.

Assembly election results: Kerala throws lifebuoy to Congress, but ship remains in choppy waters

议会选举结果:喀拉拉邦向国会扔了救生圈,但船仍处于波涛汹涌的水域

Untidy: Poor campaign planning and failure to find answers to BJP’s identity politics have been roadblocks for Congress

New Delhi: Taking cricket as an example, Congress did not perform well in the game in Kerala. After finally showing some resilience after posting its first victory in Telangana in December 2023 and a commendable performance in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, the party’s performance took a nosedive, giving up individually winnable turf and registering poor results in alliances.Kerala has come as a relief to the Congress which seemed to have lost its winning knack. Haryana and Maharashtra could have won but the results fell far short. In UP, the Congress fared poorly in the North Carolina alliance in J&K and under the MVA in Maharashtra, recording its lowest ever vote share in the state. Jharkhand, ably managed by senior partner JMM, is the only saving grace. Also Read| Assembly election results 2026: Vijay wave, Bengal breakthrough, Kerala reset – 10 takeawaysIn this context, a major victory in Kerala holds special significance for the Congress, especially since the Left stronghold is seen as a close contest. But offsetting the effect in Kerala was the devastating blow in Assam.A decade after losing power in its erstwhile stronghold, a confident revival attempt to put MP Gaurav Gogoi at the helm has failed. The party seems to have no response to the religious polarization triggered by the BJP. The Congress’s continued moribund state in West Bengal and its dismal performance in Tamil Nadu as a junior ally of the DMK suggest that the Congress has not made much progress since the emergence of the Modi-led Bharatiya Janata Party devastated it across the country. The 2024 polls represent an extremely challenging election and the resilience shown in the polls gives the party hope for the future. But the subsequent elections disappointed Congress cadres. Despite the lone victory, the 2026 results revealed a paralyzing stagnation. For the Congress, the challenges remain after May 2014 – it was badly beaten in the heartland and the BJP succeeded in painting it with a “Muslim brush”. Going forward, the Congress must find a way to counter the BJP in the northern bipolar states, except Gujarat and Goa.In December 2018, the party showed courage by sweeping across Chhattisgarh, MP and Rajasthan. But five years later, they lost it. A major hurdle facing the Congress is the BJP’s unbridled push for polarization, even in states with small Muslim populations such as Chhattisgarh, MP, and Gujarat. Pushed to the edge, the party did break the mold during the transition. Also Read| India’s footprint disappears from Bharat map as allies flounder in West Bengal and Tamil NaduThe Bharat Jodo Yatra was a bold attempt to neutralize “polarization”, with Rahul Gandhi traveling across the country to target the BJP’s communalism and marginalization of poor communities. This pilgrimage has a direct impact on the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. With its accounts confiscated, its ranks weakened by defections, the campaign dominated by Ayodhya, and related issues, the Congress and Bloc India allies still managed to keep the BJP in limbo. The Congress won a large number of seats in Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab and its allies in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Maharashtra. It is doing well in its turf of Karnataka and southern Telangana. But just when the Congress thought religious mobilization had run its course, it lost the Haryana and Maharashtra polls to mismanagement.Since then, it has faced a renewed push for polarization by the BJP, which a mandated Election Commission chairman, poor campaign planning and lax allies have not helped. With the BJP winning new territories, adding to its rock-solid northern and western states, the Congress must win over the BJP’s heartland hegemony if it has to stand a chance in the 2029 Lok Sabha polls.
