‘If his wife needs help…’: Indian H-1B technician ‘working’ at Texas food truck sparks major controversy
After Indian techie Naveen Tummala got into a viral spat with a Texas reporter, a major row broke out over whether H-1B visas can help his spouse start a business.
indian technician Naveen Tumala Texas journalist Sara Gonzales became the focus of a major feud after she visited his Golconda Xpress food truck in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and confronted him, saying he couldn’t operate a food truck while on an H-1B visa sponsored by Flexera Global. Tumala countered that he neither owned the truck nor worked there – the food business belonged to his wife and he was just helping her after get off work. The wife was not at the food truck, and Gonzalez claimed that on some permit documents, Tumala claimed to be the owner of the food truck. After the video went viral, a major brawl erupted on social media after Tumala retorted to Gonzalez, saying he was well aware of his H-1B regulations and that Gonzalez could do whatever he wanted. The Indian-American community lashed out at Gonzales and defended Tumala. The Indian-American community said H-1B visa holders cannot collect fees from any other source but they can help their spouse start a small business. Sidharth, co-founder of the Indian American Advocacy Council, said it is not illegal for H-1B holders to be indirectly involved in business activities, but Sara Gonzales acted in the video as if Tumala was a criminal/ “Let me be clear – this man works a full-time tech job, pays taxes, and his wife runs a small business that serves the local community and potentially employs Americans. His wife runs the business. He helps out from 9 to 5. He is not paid. Is there a technical gray area in immigration law regarding helping a spouse’s business? Yes. Immigration attorneys can argue where the line is,” Sidharth wrote.“But this is an immigrant family creating jobs, serving their neighbors, contributing to the local economy. This is the American dream in action. Instead of recognizing that, why show up with cameras and turn a hard-working family into anger bait,” Sidharth added.
“If the wife needs help, she can hire an American worker”
Indian-origin Republican Rohit Joy dismissed Sidharth’s defense and said there was no gray area and it was illegal. “This is illegal. If his wife needed help running her food truck, she could hire a U.S. worker. And, while the H-4 EAD may have allowed his wife to operate her food truck business, it was an illegal program created without congressional authorization,” Joy wrote.Another wrote: “He can also operate a food truck under an LLC as long as he doesn’t draw any wages from it. The H1B restriction is about collecting wages. If he doesn’t collect wages, there’s not much to see here. He can donate his labor to family, friends or even strangers.”
‘Double Gurami government’: Priyanka Gandhi calls PM a ‘slave’ of the US, Assam Chief Minister Himanta calls Modi a ‘slave’
New Delhi: congress Leader Priyanka Vadra on Wednesday lashed out at the BJP-led central and state governments. assamaccused Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma of running a “double-slavery government”.Addressing a rally in Nazira, Priyanka took aim at the BJP’s core campaign pitch, saying the party had failed to deliver on its promises. “They said they were going to have a twin-engine government. Didn’t they say that in the last election? Modi had come and said now they will run a twin-engine government. But they are running a twin-slavery government. Modi has become a slave to America and the entire country is in crisis because of his policies today.” And Hemantaji was Modiji’s slave. Most importantly, they want this dual-slavery government to enslave and subjugate the people of this beautiful and self-respecting state of Assam,” she said.Priyanka urged voters to reject what she said was a politics driven by fear and self-interest. “They work for you only when they see benefit for themselves. This is not the tradition of this country. Even today, we hope that the government in Assam will not scare you, will not threaten you, will not serve its own selfish interests, but will serve you, work for you honestly, advance and strengthen your culture and civilization,” she added. She further alleged that the BJP government in Assam operates through intimidation and corruption and alleged that public resources were being misused. “It’s not just the success of one leader. The biggest thing that happens due to corruption is having your money taken away from you. This money was meant to serve you – schools, hospitals, roads, running water – but instead it was used to build palaces and enrich families,” she said.Targeting the state leadership, Priyanka claimed that “only one family is looting everything in Assam” while ordinary citizens continue to struggle. She also accused the BJP of failing to fulfill key promises, including raising wages for tea garden workers and granting scheduled tribe status to several communities. “Various tribal communities have been demanding ST status for years. The BJP had promised to give them ST status but they have not given it,” she said. She raised concerns about governance, claiming people were being forced to attend rallies. “Prime Minister Modi and Prime Minister Himanta are ruling the country and state with fear and threats. Our fight is to fight this fear and protect the culture and civilization of Assam,” she said.Priyanka highlighted the Congress’ commitment, outlining the welfare measures her party would implement if elected. “If you want this kind of Assam, go for the Congress government. Our first guarantee is that for women, if you want to start some small job or business, you will get Rs 50,000. Whatever scheme we provide for women, the cash will be transferred directly into the bank account of the woman,” she said. She also pledged to expand health care support. “You will get health insurance up to Rs 25 lakh. No matter what ailment you suffer from, the government provides free treatment up to Rs 25 lakh. Our government has shown this in Rajasthan,” she said.Priyanka also raised the issue of justice for Assamese singers Zubin Gargclaiming it was a legitimate public concern. “The Congress government wants justice for Zubeen Garg ji. Within 100 days, once our government is formed, we will get justice for him. Today, all local ‘Bhumiputras’ received provisional land deeds. We will provide permanent deeds to the local one million sons of the soil, not temporary ones,” she said. She denied accusations of politicizing the issue, saying: “Honestly, I don’t think something like this should be politicized. But I think when the public demands justice for someone they respect and respect, then don’t we have a responsibility as politicians to say, yes, we will do whatever it takes to get justice? How can that be politicization?”She called for political change, urging voters to envision a “new Assam”. “Lift your heads, hold your chest high and make up your mind that the new government will bring about a new Assam. Your Assam, Zubin Gargji’s dream, Assam in your hearts, everyone’s dream, the future of your children becomes bright and corruption stops,” she said. PM Modi: Congress opposes developmentMeanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also hit back hard at the Congress during a rally in the state. Addressing a rally in Biswanath, he accused the party of being the “source” of corruption in independent India. “The entire country knows that the Congress Party is anti-development and has been the source of corruption in post-independence India. In Assam, the people are well aware of what the Congress Party has done. The Congress party exploits the identity, pride and security of Assam. Since Independence, it has compromised Assam’s identity for the sake of power and has repeatedly ignored the interests of Assam,” he said.He further alleged that Congress encouraged illegal infiltration for political gain. “They (Congress) have compromised on the ‘aatma’ (soul), ‘shaan’ (pride), ‘pehchan’ (identity) and ‘suraksha’ (security) of Assam,” Modi said, adding that the BJP government has taken steps to remove encroachments and protect local identity. The prime minister also reiterated the PPP’s record of governance, saying the party’s “dual-engine government” has ushered in development and stability. “Ten years of BJP rule heralds a new dawn of ‘seva’ (services) and ‘sushasan’ (good governance) in Assam,” he said.Modi further promised to take key policy steps if the BJP returns to power, including implementation of the Uniform Civil Code and protection of tribal rights under the Sixth Schedule. He also expressed confidence in being reelected for a third consecutive term in the state. The political confrontation comes as Assam is about to enter a high-stakes assembly election, with voting in all 126 constituencies scheduled for April 9 and vote counting scheduled for May 4. The contest is expected to be a head-to-head contest between the ruling National Development Alliance, led by the Bharatiya Janata Party, and the Congress party, with both sides ramping up their campaigning efforts and intensifying their attacks in the final stages.

Artemis 2 launch: Why did the United States stop its moon landing mission? Everything you need to know about your new journey
The United States is preparing to send astronauts to the moon for the first time in more than 50 years artemis iimarking an important step in human lunar exploration after a long pause since the Apollo era.
NASA’s original moon landing program, the Apollo program, ended in 1972, primarily due to budget constraints and changing political priorities.
The agency originally planned nine missions but was forced to cancel several due to financial constraints, the New York Post reported.
A month after the Apollo 12 moon landing, a top aide to then-President Richard Nixon spoke of limits on space spending. He noted that “the president says he doesn’t have enough money… and must accept funding constraints” [space] activities,” as quoted by space policy expert John Logsdon.

NASA’s budget was soon reportedly cut by 15 percent, and the risks became even more apparent after the Apollo 13 near-disaster.
Now that the United States had “won” the space race with the Soviet Union, public and political interest declined, further weakening the incentive for costly moon missions.
When was the last mission to the moon?
The last human journey to the moon occurred during the Apollo 17 launch on December 7, 1972.
Astronauts Eugene Cernan and Harrison Schmidt became the last humans to walk on the lunar surface, while Ron Evans remained in orbit.
Since then, no humans have returned to the moon.
Why is NASA going back now?
More than 50 years later, NASA passed artemis projectdriven by scientific goals and geopolitical competition.
The new push comes amid continued progress by China, which has successfully sent a robotic mission to the moon and plans to send astronauts to the moon by 2030, the New York Post reported.
The Artemis program also aims to establish a long-term human presence, including a potential lunar base.
What is Artemis II?
Artemis 2 is a planned 10-day manned mission that will send astronaut Fly around the moon without landing. The cast includes Reed Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch and Jeremy Henson.
The mission is expected to test critical systems and pave the way for future lunar landings, currently targeted for later this decade.
If successful, Artemis 2 will mark a major milestone in humanity’s return to deep space exploration. NASA’s ultimate goal is to land astronauts on the moon again and establish a sustainable presence.
Ousted by Jyoti Basu, overshadowed by Mamata, crushed by the BJP: Congress spends 50 years in exile in West Bengal
New Delhi: Congress party has been in power for nearly 50 years indira gandhi During that era, stalwart Siddhartha Shankar Ray was the Chief Minister of West Bengal. His tenure ended in 1977 and was replaced by an all-out communist wave led by veteran Marxist Jyoti Basu, who went on to become the state’s longest-serving chief minister.Decades of left-wing rule have systematically weakened the Congress party’s influence. The party of iconic Bidhan Chandra Roy has been pushed to the margins and is now struggling even to establish itself as a credible third force.

Mamata writes to EC over alleged voter hijacking by BJP, demands protection of electoral rolls
The left’s long hegemony is finally broken Mamata Banerjee. Her political rise has marginalized the communist camp, but the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) emerged as the main challenger to her Trinamool Congress (TMC) in the last elections held in 2021. Amid these seismic changes, as the next assembly polls approach, the footprint of the Congress remains a shadow of its former self. The decline is stark from 1972, when the Congress won a landslide victory with more than 200 seats and nearly half the vote share. However, with the rise of the CPM-led Left Front under Jyoti Basu, the party began a long retreat from the center of power.

In the 1977 election, this great old party suffered a disastrous defeat and was eclipsed by the wave of the CPM. This collapse was partly caused by the backlash against Indira Gandhi’s Emergency, which also led to the Congress’s first defeat in the central region and its defeat in the general election that same year. By 1977, the party had lost more than half of the 1972 vote and never returned to dominance.Although the Congress party had been a significant opposition force for many years, at the turn of the century its political space was occupied by Mamata Banerjee. In 1998, Banerjee broke away to form the Trinamool Congress under the banner of ‘Jora Ghas Phul’ and came to power within 15 years, filling the vacuum left by the declining Left and stagnant Congress. In many ways, the TMC has managed to rise to the top while the Congress, which is more than a century old, has languished. Voters in West Bengal have shown no interest in returning to the Congress even as the state leadership transitions from Indira to Rahul Gandhi.

Do you think the Congress can regain its influence in West Bengal politics?
The 2021 elections mark the final turning point. The Bharatiya Janata Party soared to 77 seats and became the main opposition party. While the BJP was unable to displace Mamata Banerjee, its rise was a devastating blow to the Congress party, which failed to win a single seat, cementing its position as a distant third. Now, facing an uphill battle for relevance, Congress is preparing to fight back. As the state prepares for elections to 294 seats, the party hopes to transform from a fading memory into a new political force, the outcome of which will determine Bengal’s next chapter.
UAE: Sharjah warns April Fools’ Day pranks could result in jail time, fine of Dh100,000 for spreading false information | World News
In the UAE, posting or sharing false information online, even as a joke, can result in serious legal consequences, and authorities have warned that humor will not be protected by law. Sharjah Public Prosecution has warned residents that spreading misinformation online, including April Fools’ Day content, could result in jail time and hefty fines. Officials said in a public awareness message that the law does not distinguish between content shared for entertainment and content that causes harm, treating both as criminal offences. According to Article 52 of Federal Decree No. 34 of 2021 on Combating Rumors and Cybercrimes, anyone who publishes or republishes false information online will face at least one year in prison and a fine of at least Dh100,000. This law applies to content that incites public opinion, disrupts public security, spreads panic, or harms public interests, the economy, public order, and public health. Authorities also stressed that intent was not a defense, meaning even a joke could lead to prosecution. If the circumstances are more serious, the punishment will be increased. If false information is used to mislead the public or incite action against state authorities or institutions, offenders may face a jail term of at least two years and a fine starting from Dh200,000. During emergencies, crises, epidemics or disasters, penalties become more severe due to the potential to cause panic and disrupt public safety. In extreme circumstances, such as wartime, intentional spreading of harmful rumors may be punishable by death under applicable laws. Khaleej Times cited legal experts as saying the key issue was not whether the content was intended to be a joke, but how it was perceived by the public. Diana Hamad noted that hoaxes involving false emergencies, false government announcements or fabricated events carry the highest risk, especially if they are widely disseminated. She said the wider the reach, the greater the legal risks, with influencers and large accounts facing greater scrutiny. She added that “it was a joke” was not a valid defense if the content was misleading or causing harm. Fatima Salim Al Saadi, acting general manager of Abdullah Al Kaabi’s Publicity and Legal Advisory Office, explained that April Fools’ Day jokes are not illegal by default, but they are punishable when they mislead the public or cause confusion. Authorities evaluate factors such as realism, use of official logos, links to ongoing events and the extent to which the content is disseminated. Igor Abalov says that in today’s digital environment, even seemingly harmless jokes can quickly be interpreted as truthful messages. Liability arises once false information becomes available and begins to spread regardless of intent, he said, adding that even deleted posts could still result in legal action if they had spread. Authorities said the legal framework, including Federal Decree No. 34 of 2021, the UAE Penal Code and media regulations, focus on the impact of content rather than the intentions behind it. We urge residents to verify information before sharing it and to avoid posting misleading engagement content. April 1 is April Fools’ Day, and officials reiterated a clear message: Prank sharing can quickly cross into criminal territory if it misleads the public or causes harm.

Trump responded to the allegations against Bryan, telling the Daily Mail, “They confirmed that? Wow, well, if that’s the case, I feel bad for his family, that’s terrible.”
“I didn’t see anything,” Trump added. “I didn’t know anything about it. That was terrible, but I didn’t know anything about it.”

LSG vs DC: Will Arjun Tendulkar find a place in the starting XI today?
Arjun Tendulkar transfer mumbai indians Ahead of the IPL 2026 auction, the deal with Lucknow Supergiants might have been a straight swap deal in the IPL trade window, but it did grab the attention of fans, even though the trade window witnessed some major changes, such as Sanju Samson being traded from RR to CSK. As LSG kicks off their match against Delhi Capitals at the Ekana International Stadium today, the focus will be on whether the all-rounder can find a place in LSG’s starting XI. LSG, who are only seventh in IPL 2025, are targeting victory under the captaincy of Rishabh Pant. Unlike last year when LSG was plagued by injuries, this year they have a fully healthy squad that includes key players like Mohammad Shami and Anrich Nortje, while the return of Mayank Yadav and Mohsin Khan from injury has also bolstered the pace of their bowling fortunes.
Will Arjun Tendulkar play today? ?
The question that then arises is whether Arjun Tendulkar can find a place in the starting XI. Primarily a bowler, Tendulkar will face stiff competition from the likes of India internationals Avish Khan, Mayank and Mohsin for a spot in the final eleven, with Shami expected to spearhead the attack. There is also a host of young fast bowlers with Prince Yadav, Akash Singh, Naman Tiwari and fast bowling all-rounder Arshin Kulkarni also vying for a spot. Although Mumbai Indians signed Tendulkar in IPL 2021, he was unable to play this season due to injury and the team later bought him back ahead of the 2022 season. After serving as a substitute in the 2022 season, he finally made his debut in the 2023 IPL against Kolkata Knight Riders and went on to represent MI in five matches, taking three wickets. Always in the shadow of his legendary father, Tendulkar’s every performance has been scrutinized and often linked to Sachin, which is often a little unfair, but Arjun has earned his own stripes in domestic cricket over the years, taking 27 wickets in 24 T20 games at a strike rate of 17.1 and an average of 25.07. He also scored 119 runs in the format at a strike rate of 123.95. After representing Mumbai in his early days, Arjun switched his allegiance to Goa and took A-list wickets of 25 and 47 in first-class cricket and 250 and 100 in FC. Earlier, ahead of LSG’s season opener, Tendulkar revealed in a podcast how he dealt with the criticism leveled against him. In an interview with Shubhankar Mishra, Arjun was asked: “How do you keep yourself so cool and collected?” Arjun replied, “I have 5 dogs in Goa and I spend time playing with them”. Shubhankar asked: “Do you have any friends who are cricketers?” Arjun said: “I don’t really have cricket friends, most of my friends don’t play cricket”. Shubhankar asked, “Are you afraid of criticism?”. Arjun: Say: No. I don’t. “
Music by Tesseract: Sounds of Truth
There’s a moment near the end of Stanley Kubrick’s Eyes Wide Shut when a waltz plays out over a scene of unsettling beauty. The piece, Shostakovich’s Waltz No. 2, was composed for a Soviet film in the mid-1950s, was completely mistakenly attributed to another suite, and is now one of the most recognized orchestral works in the world precisely because of its impact on a room. It’s not comforting. It’s unsettling and elegant. It was the first piece of music the audience heard as they walked into Tesseract: The Geometry of Truth, a choice that spoke volumes about the evening’s purpose. The musical direction of Tesseract was no accident. Billy Joel – She’ll Always Be a Woman (Official Audio)
Written in 1977, the book is a portrait of a man who refused to be reduced to a simple narrative – a study of the gap between who a person really is and who others insist on seeing. Joel wrote this book in part out of frustration with critics who misread the people he loved, but it’s something much bigger: a quiet argument against the laziness of accepted opinion. In a show about the geometry of truth, it’s worth noting that truth about people is almost always more complex than the shapes we assign. We didn’t set the fire – Billy Joel

The climactic theme of Ron Howard’s adaptation of Dan Brown’s novel revolves entirely around the proposition that the truths most protected are the ones that institutions have the most to lose by revealing them.
