New Delhi: India beat Namibia by 93 runs in the T20 World Cup on Thursday to register their second consecutive win in the tournament. Powered by half a century of progressive energy Ishan Kishan and Hardik Pandyathe defending champions posted a formidable figure of 209/9 before bowling out Namibia for 116 runs in 18.2 overs.Post-match, Pandya reflected on his form and preparation, saying, “Yeah, of course, just enjoying the game. It took a couple of months to prepare, you know, find the rhythm, get in shape. So far, it’s been going well.” Highlighting how much his batting means to him, he added: “Yes, I’ve always been proud of my batting as an all-rounder. So whenever I get a chance, I make sure that both skills are managed correctly… batting is always my heart’s content. When that happens, you know if you add more sugar to the cake. “

Pandya also elaborated on the hard work required to stay in top physical shape. “The body is great. I always mentioned it takes a lot of hard work and I cherish that. But, you know, playing for the national team has always been a source of pride and always been my priority,” he said. “A lot of it was behind the scenes, I would go out and join the Army, which was like a camp where I did morning and night training…making sure I was eating well, making sure I was sleeping well, making sure my habits were good.India got off to an explosive start and Kishan was in particularly good form. The left-hander struck from the start, blasting 61 off just 24 balls and reaching a half-century in just 20 deliveries as India crossed the 100-run mark in the first seven overs.Pandya then dominated the middle stages with authority, scoring 52 off 28 balls and forging a vital 81-run partnership for the fifth wicket with Shivam Dube (23 off 16) to keep India afloat on the scoreboard despite periodic setbacks.Namibia captain Gerhard Erasmus excelled in possession, using clever changes to post career-best figures of 4/20. His spell helped stem the tide of the innings, with India losing five wickets for just four runs, but the target remained well beyond Namibia’s reach.Despite several batsmen showing promise at the start of the match, Namibia failed to get into the required rhythm as they chased 210. Varun Chakravarthy was superb with the ball and finished with impressive figures of 3/7 in two overs.India started their campaign with a win over the United States, followed it up with a resounding victory over Namibia, and will now turn their attention to Sunday’s high-pressure clash with arch-enemy Pakistan in Colombo.

New rules restrict foreigners from obtaining commercial driver's licenses in the U.S.: only H-2A, H-2B and E-2 visa holders

After a series of crashes involving immigrant, non-English-speaking drivers, the Trump administration is rolling out new rules that would ban unqualified foreigners from driving commercial vehicles. The new rules will significantly reduce the number of people eligible and will also close existing loopholes between federal and state rules. Harjinder Singh, Jashanpreet Singh, Rajinder Kumar and Kamalpreet Singh are all Indian-origin truck drivers accused of causing fatal crashes on US highways over the past few months. They both obtained CDLs without residence in California.“For too long, the United States has allowed dangerous foreign drivers to abuse our truck permitting system and wreak havoc on our roadways,” Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said in a statement to The Daily Caller. “Going forward, unqualified foreign drivers will not be able to obtain a license to operate an 80,000-pound big rig.”

Donald Trump policies reshape U.S. hiring, H-1B visa tweaks fuel anti-India movement

“Under President Trump’s leadership, we are putting the safety of the driving public first,” Duffy continued. “From enforcing English language standards to holding fraudulent carriers accountable, we will continue to tackle this road crisis head-on.”

What are the new rules for truckers?

H-2A, H-2B, and E-2 nonimmigrant status holders who pass federal screening will be eligible for the CDL. H-2A visa holders are temporary agricultural workers. H-2B visa holders are temporary non-agricultural workers. E2 is a treaty investor. The new rules also ban the acceptance of an EAD as proof of eligibility and require state officials to query the Alien Rights System Verification System to confirm the legal immigration status of each foreign applicant. The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration said there were about 17 fatal crashes in 2025 “that were caused by the actions of non-resident CDL holders whose medical conditions could not be guaranteed and therefore would not qualify under this new rule.” The agency also accused more than 30 states of improperly issuing non-domestic CDLs.

Who can obtain a CDL under existing rules?

Non-citizens with any valid work authorization, including Employment Authorization Documents (EAD), such as those held by DACA recipients, asylum seekers, refugees, TPS holders, etc., may apply for a non-settled CDL/CLP as long as they have valid work authorization and immigration documentation.

'Creepy crouching': Lawmakers claim edited photos show Epstein with former Prince Andrew trafficking victim

An unidentified woman pictured with Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor was one of them. Jeffrey EpsteinRep. Ted Lieu (D-Calif.), who showed images to the House Judiciary Committee on Wednesday during a hearing on the release of the Epstein dossier, said victims of sex trafficking are victims of sex trafficking. The photos of the former royal and the woman were shown when Attorney General Pam Bondi faced questioning from Liu, who said they showed Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor “creepingly crouching” on top of the woman, the New York Post reported.Faced with questioning by Liu, Bundy confirmed that the woman’s face had been redacted under a congressional law designed to protect victims of sex trafficking.“I’m going to show you two photos of the former Prince Andrew attending various parties with Jeffrey Epstein,” Liu told the hearing.“Under a law passed by Congress, you could edit the photo to protect victims of Epstein’s sex trafficking campaign. You edited this victim’s mugshot because you complied with Congressional law, correct?”After Bundy confirmed the reasoning behind the edit, Liu said the photos proved “we are looking for sex trafficking victims.”“Not only is Jeffrey Epstein guilty under the federal Trafficking Victims Protection Act, but so is anyone who patronized Epstein’s sex trafficking,” the lawmakers said.“That’s why I think it’s absolutely despicable that you’re trying to protect Epstein’s clients, like the former Prince Andrew,” Liu told Bundy.

'Incorrect and speculative': AAIB rejects Italian report blaming pilot for Air India 171 crash

New Delhi: The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) on Thursday clarified that the investigation into the crash of Air India flight AI-171 in Ahmedabad in June 2025 is still ongoing, dismissing reports that the investigation has been concluded and blaming the pilot for the accident. The AAIB said “the investigation is ongoing and has not yet reached a final conclusion” and urged the media to exercise restraint and avoid premature speculation, which could cause public anxiety and undermine the integrity of the investigation.AAIB noted that it conducted the investigation strictly in accordance with the Aircraft (Accident and Incident Investigation) Rules, 2025 and India’s obligations under ICAO Annex 13. The preliminary report was released in July 2025 and provided only factual information available at the time. A final investigation report containing conclusions and safety recommendations will be released upon completion.Previously, Italy’s Corriere della Sera reported, citing unnamed sources, that investigators had determined that the crash was caused by “intentional behavior” rather than a technical defect, and identified captain Sumeet Sabharwal as the main suspect. According to the report, American experts assisting the investigation described the findings as a “breakthrough.”The AAIB stresses that such reports are purely speculative. “Aircraft accident investigations are technical, evidence-based processes designed to identify root causes and improve safety,” it said. The Air India Boeing 787 Dreamliner operating flight AI-171 crashed seconds after taking off from the Ahmedabad airport, killing 260 people, including passengers at the crash site and those in a medical student hostel. Only one passenger survived. Preliminary reports indicate that the fuel control switch was switched from “run” to “cut” at the last moment and highlighted cockpit communication between the pilots.AAIB reaffirms its commitment to transparency, procedural integrity and the highest standards of aviation safety.
