Controversial anchor Nina Lin has reignited online drama buzz after she claimed she spent a night in jail after failing to scan a $4 pair of scissors. The Twitch personality shared the story during a live broadcast on May 20, immediately sparking outrage on social media.Lin’s past shopping controversies quickly returned to discussion after the incident, especially after she was accused of shoplifting in late 2025. But this time, Nina says it was all because of a hasty checkout mistake that turned out to be far more than she could have imagined.
Speaking to viewers, Nina described the exact moment when store staff allegedly stopped her after checking out. The anchor reported that the security guard reviewed the footage and claimed she failed to scan an item while using the self-checkout.“They immediately checked my receipt and he said, ‘You’re missing one.'” We have a video of it. I’m like, what? They showed me… the video. They actually showed me the so-called video they were talking about. You know when you check out, you turn everything over so the barcode can be scanned, and you put everything away because you’re in a hurry? “Nina claimed the forgotten item was a pair of cheap scissors. She explained that she was trying to move quickly while scanning the product and didn’t realize that a barcode was missing.“I was trying to get out of there. I was using the little red barcode scanner. But apparently I missed one… I’ve never been more shocked in my life. I was like, ‘Are you serious? Are you sure?’ I told the police: ‘You saw what I saw, right?’ “It was an honest mistake … but the guy wanted you in the precinct,” he said. “The anchor seemed frustrated that she was not simply asked to pay before police got involved.“Because if you knew it was an honest mistake, you could have stopped me on my way out and said, ‘Hey, man, you forgot this, can you scan it?’ And that would be it. Out of spite, I would buy every pair of scissors on the shelf. No kidding. I would take every pair of scissors off the shelf and buy them. I would be stocking up on scissors for the next 20,000 years.”
As the story spread online, Nina hinted that the store owner might have recognized her from the internet controversy involving Ardin Rose and Asmongold.“The guy prepared it for me. I don’t know what it was… maybe he was watching Adin Rose.”She later added:“Maybe he’s looking at Asamakin…Asama…that guy, he’s a total terrorist. Whoever that old white guy is.”Meanwhile, legal commentator Andre Esquire questioned whether the situation was truly accidental.“Nina Lin does have a history of shoplifting under the guise of ‘unscanned’ – it may have been legal once it happened, but now this pattern of behavior has been captured on her 4k livestream.”The latest controversy has once again divided viewers, with some defending Nina’s explanation while others believe the recurring incidents are becoming increasingly difficult to ignore.
