ChatGPT brought down thousands of users, with many complaining of “steam error messages” when trying to load chats or generate responses. DownDetector, a platform for tracking and reporting online outages, showed more than 1,000 reports at the time of writing.
“Is chatgpt down, or is it just me??. Now without AI, I can’t code??” one user wrote on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.
“Chatgpt down?” asked another.
Some users said they saw messages such as:
“Something went wrong”
“Message flow error”
“Unable to load conversation”
Blank chat window or endless loading screen
The “streaming” or “steaming” phrasing usually refers to the ad hoc problem of how responses are delivered from OpenAI’s servers to an application or browser.
