Two trains collided head-on in Denmark on Thursday, injuring several passengers and triggering a major emergency response.Police said in a statement that the accident occurred about 40 kilometers north of Copenhagen on the railway line connecting the towns of Hilleler and Kagrup.Emergency services confirmed the incident involved two local trains. “Two local trains collided head-on,” a spokesman for the Greater Copenhagen Fire Department told Reuters.

There were reports of injuries and no one trapped.

Authorities said between five and 10 people were injured in the incident, public broadcaster DR reported. However, officials stressed that all passengers were safely evacuated.“There were injuries among the passengers. Everyone has left the train so no one is trapped… A fire department spokesman added that a large number of resources were sent to the scene.The Associated Press reported that the accident triggered a large-scale emergency response and police described it as a “major incident”, but the exact number of casualties was not immediately confirmed.Details of the cause of the collision are not yet known and authorities are expected to launch an investigation into the incident.While emergency teams continued to operate at the scene, a swift evacuation ensured that no passengers were trapped inside the train.Officials are assessing the situation and determining the cause of the head-on collision and await further updates.
