Philadelphia police have announced a $20,000 reward and a $20,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of Anshul Kuncha. Anshul Kuncha, a 28-year-old Indian man from Telangana, was shot and killed while delivering pizza to a vacant house in North Philadelphia.Kuncha was killed shortly after 12:30 a.m. on Friday after responding to a fake delivery order. He was shot in the back of the head while delivering three pizzas to a vacant apartment in the Raymond Rosen housing complex on Edgley Street.Police found him unconscious and bleeding at the scene. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead at about 12:43 a.m.No arrests have been made so far. However, police said they had obtained the phone number used to place the pizza order and were working to find the person who made the call.Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small said surveillance video showed two people wearing dark clothing following Kuncha as he got out of his car and walked toward the residence. Three spent shell casings were found just inches from where he was found, suggesting the gunman was standing very close to him when he fired. The pizzas were later found intact in a vacant apartment. Police have not yet determined his motive and family members say nothing was stolen from him.Kuncha is from Hyderabad and has been living in the United States for nearly four years. After completing his bachelor’s degree in Hyderabad, he moved to the United States to pursue his master’s degree. He later found a job at KWC and worked part-time as a pizza delivery driver on the weekends to earn extra money. His family believes he was deliberately lured to the location.“It was a trap just to kill him,” said his sister Tanvi. She added: “He was told to deliver pizza in an abandoned area but we later learned it was a decoy. There was no one there. We don’t know what they got or what their intentions were. They took my brother and killed him.”According to family members, Kuncha had been robbed before in the United States and lost his necklace, mobile phone and cash, but he had never suffered such a serious attack. Two masked men carrying backpacks were seen near the area at the time of the shooting.Tanvi called for her brother’s body to be returned to India as soon as possible and for justice.“My brother has been in the US for almost four years. We learned that he was trapped and shot dead over a fake pizza delivery request. Our only request is that his body be brought back to India as soon as possible,” she said.In a touching message, she also urged parents to think carefully before sending their children abroad.“My brother is a very loving and happy man. He had no real reason to go to the United States, but we sent him to the United States anyway. He didn’t want to go either, but he went and saw what he would get. Don’t send your children to the United States,” she said. The Consulate General of India in New York expressed condolences to the family and said it was in contact with local authorities.“We are deeply saddened by the untimely passing of Mr. Anshul Kuncha, an Indian national in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. We extend our deepest condolences and condolences to his family during this difficult time. The Consulate is in contact with Anshul’s family and is providing all possible assistance,” the consulate said in a post on X.
