Misinformation spreads after hacker confirmed

According to the FBI, the breach affected only Patel’s personal email account. According to the FBI, Patel’s government email account remains secure as investigators confirmed that no classified systems were compromised.

Iran-linked group dubbed ‘Handala Hacking Team” claimed responsibility for the hack. Multiple news sources, including Reuters, reported that the gang posted personal information and old images of Patel on its website.

However, as details of the hack emerged, speculation and unsubstantiated claims surged on social media platforms about who might be behind the incident. Some of them falsely alluded to public figures, such as Owens.

This is a common pattern in high-profile cyber incidents. “The response from U.S. authorities comes after they confirmed that Patel’s personal email account was compromised in a cyberattack linked to an Iranian-affiliated hacking group that later released purported personal data and photos,” Owens wrote in response to one of the statements.

Why did Owens mention Alexis Wilkins?

Owens’ comments about Alexis Wilkins highlight current questions about Patel’s girlfriend, who has been the focus of some internet conspiracy theories recently.

Wilkins claimed she was being targeted in a foreign influence operation designed to conduct a “coordinated effort” against the Trump administration. The country singer has previously slammed a series of MAGA figures, including right-wing broadcaster Candace Owens, over her claims, which The Daily Beast called a conspiracy theory.

in a 13 PartX Posts On Tuesday, Wilkins cited Owens’ claims about Israel’s involvement in the assassination of Charlie Kirk as one of “MAGA’s breaking points.”

Patel boasts about containing Handala hacking team

The Justice Department and Patel last week boasted that they had taken control of the Handala hacking team’s cyber domain amid Iran’s intelligence services’ “continued efforts to disrupt hacking and transnational repression plans.”

“We’ve destroyed four pillars of their operation, but we’re not done yet,” Patel said in a statement. “The FBI will hunt down every actor behind these cowardly death threats and cyberattacks and will engage American law enforcement with all its might.”

The recent hack of Patel’s personal email was a response to these boasts. In a post on Friday about an attack on Patel on an archived version of its website, details of which came to light, the group mentioned domain seizures.

“While the FBI proudly seized our domain and immediately announced a $10 million reward for the heads of the Handala Hack members, we decided to respond to this ridiculous display in a way that will forever be remembered,” the post read.

They further added, “Kashi PatelThe current FBI director, who once proudly saw his name at the agency’s headquarters, will now appear on a list of successfully hacked victims. “
