U.S. Central Command releases video of Iran attack

U.S. Central Command released video on Saturday of a military strike on Iran in “retaliation” for an attack on a merchant ship transiting the Strait of Hormuz.“U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) forces conducted strikes against Iran on June 26 in response to yesterday’s attack on a commercial ship transiting the Strait of Hormuz. After Iran hit the M/V Ever Lovely with a unidirectional attack drone on June 25, U.S. aircraft struck Iranian missile and drone storage sites and coastal radar sites. The Singapore-flagged cargo ship was exiting the Strait of Hormuz along the coast of Oman when the Iranian attack occurred,” the post on X“The Iranian military’s unprovoked aggression against commercial shipping is a clear violation of the ceasefire agreement. Additionally, Iran’s dangerous behavior undermines freedom of navigation as commerce increasingly flows through critical international trade corridors. Central Command forces continue to provide safe passage coordination and support for commercial shipping through the Strait. The U.S. military remains present and vigilant to ensure that all aspects of the agreement with Iran are adhered to and fully functional,” the statement added.Iran said the U.S. attack landed near a dock in the southern port city of Sirik, before the Iranian navy launched retaliatory strikes against U.S. military positions in the area. However, Tehran did not specify which U.S. targets were hit or provide details on the extent of the damage.Iran said it would monitor traffic in the Strait of Hormuz and warned Gulf states against aligning with Washington after a drone attack on a cargo ship off the coast of Oman on Thursday. U.S. President Donald Trump blamed Tehran for the attack, saying it violated a temporary ceasefire agreed last week.
