Elizabeth I refused to go to bed before she died – a stubborn final act that reflected her reign

0

London, March 1603. Elizabeth I refuses to go to bed. For several days she sat on a cushion in her room at Richmond Palace, silent and withdrawn, while her courtiers awaited the end. These are the final moments that can be understood not only as the failure of her body but also as the final expression of a life defined by the pursuit of control.

Elizabeth I refused to go to bed before she died – a stubborn final act that reflected her reign

Elizabeth’s energy had always been central to her image, so her retreat marked a significant change. The Venetian envoy Scaramelli and the courtiers John Clapham and Robert Carey described her long absences from court, insomnia and refusal of food. Clapham noted that Elizabeth stayed awake for six days, intent on death.

I believe Elizabeth I’s refusal to go to bed before her death was a calculated final act, shaped by a lifetime of political maneuvering, emotional restraint, and pending reckoning.

Elizabeth’s childhood shaped her formative need for survival. Her mother, Anne Boleyn, was murdered by her father before Elizabeth was three years old, influenced by an elite education and emotional neglect in her childhood. It shows her directly the dangers of female proximity, intimacy, and marriage at court.

The ill-fated stepmother followed. Neglected and politically vulnerable, Elizabeth learned to watch carefully and speak carefully. Her position was precarious, and her survival depended more on the careful management of palace politics than on the anticipation of future rule.

As historian Helen Custer has argued, these skills became the core of her subsequent authority. In fact, her childhood friend and long-time favorite Robert Dudley, Earl of Leicester, later recalled that Elizabeth told him at the age of eight that she would never marry. It is an important memory of the man who was most closely associated with her adult emotional life.

After experiencing the reputational risks of a scandal involving her husband Thomas Seymour, Catherine Parr was imprisoned by her sister Mary I at the age of 15. She survived through strength of character and circumstances.

Elizabeth witnessed the reign of her sister Mary I, the first reigning Queen of England. She used the underestimation they faced in a political culture wary of female dominance to examine what worked and what didn’t, and quietly shaped her own approach to power.

Women rulers of this period operated in a political system not designed for them. Elizabeth evoked her motto “semper eadem” and ruled by tightly controlling her image.

She cultivated the image of a “virgin queen,” carefully managing her contacts and intimacy and using her courtship tactics strategically. Writing after her death, the philosopher and statesman Francis Bacon described Elizabeth as “her own mistress.”

Further crises, from would-be assassins to outbreaks of smallpox to the threat of the Spanish Armada, reinforced the claims to rule. Towards the end of her life, the costs of longevity began to show. Ordering the execution of her cousin Mary, Queen of Scots, in 1587 has long been considered a moment of enormous personal and political consequence.

We may never know whether Elizabeth’s supposedly last, innocent lament over her cousin’s death was an expression of genuine emotion or an act of political showmanship.

In a world where people believe in eternal judgment, this dying protest seems designed to convince herself and anyone who hears.

cost of rules

Elizabeth’s treatment of other contenders for the throne and relatives reflects the fragility of dynastic security and the cruelty required to maintain it.

Elizabeth felt an unparalleled attachment to Dudley, but the political realities in which she found herself meant that this relationship could not be fully realized.

On the deathbed of her closest lifelong adviser, William Cecil, Elizabeth said she “did not want to live any longer than she had with him.” This aptly shows the extent of Elizabeth’s dependence on him.

For the rest of her life, her lady-in-waiting Elizabeth Southwell recalled that when Cecil’s son and heir Robert urged her to go to bed, the Queen replied: “Little man, little man, ‘must’ is not a word fit for a prince. Your father, had he lived, would not have dared to use such a word; but you know I must die.”

Elizabeth outlived those closest to her, including Dudley, whose death in 1588 was a great loss. In 1601 she ordered the execution of his stepson, Robert Devereux, Earl of Essex, for his treasonous rebellion. This behavior is said to have had a profound impact on her.

Essex is a vague echo of his stepfather and a stark reminder of his absence. The death of Catherine Carey, her loyal female relative and long-time lady-in-waiting, at the end of February 1603, marked Elizabeth’s final downturn. The Queen withdrew.

Elizabeth’s reign is often seen as a triumph of stability and strength. Her final days, however, hint at something more complex: a code built on the pursuit of control, sustained through sacrifice and marked by isolation. Her story resonates not only because of what she accomplished, but also because of the price she paid.

Carey’s husband, the Earl of Nottingham, is summoned and only he can convince Elizabeth to sleep with her. Three days later, she left. In her final moments, the performance is lost, and what remains is not the carefully managed image of Gloriana, but a woman faced with the absence of those she depends on and the cumulative weight of the choices that maintain her dominance.

Elizabeth’s refusal to go to bed can be read not only as a defiance of the inevitable but, at her most vulnerable, as a last-ditch attempt to maintain control. SKS

After an opaque summit, China and the United States hope to work together again. This may not be good news for the world

0

Canberra, back in 2005, American economist Fred Bergsten coined the term “Group of 2” or “G2” to propose a stronger partnership between the United States and China, the two largest economies in the world today.

After an opaque summit, China and the United States hope to work together again. This may not be good news for the world
After an opaque summit, China and the United States hope to work together again. This may not be good news for the world

After the global financial crisis broke out a few years later, economic cooperation between the two countries briefly seemed to prove the success of efforts to integrate China into a liberal rules-based order.

To be sure, the G2 is not ostensibly meant to replace the larger, formal G20 grouping of major economies, but to strengthen it.

To support the G20’s broader response to the global financial crisis, the United States implemented an initial $787 billion in fiscal stimulus, while China also provided $586 billion in stimulus. This could help avoid an even greater global economic disaster.

This week’s summit between U.S. President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping heralds a different kind of G2.

On Friday, Trump claimed the two countries had struck some “fantastic trade deals.” But anyone hoping for details on such a deal — tariffs, rare earths or Iran — was disappointed Friday afternoon.

Whatever happens, Sino-US cooperation no longer automatically means positive spillovers to the rest of the world. Instead, by 2026, the G2 will be, at best, a private bargain between two great powers, with hidden costs for outsiders.

The Trump administration has brought about a significant shift in the United States’ view of its economic interests: no longer premised on shared liberal values, but on spheres of influence among great powers. The key question, therefore, is not whether the United States and China can cooperate. It’s about what kind of order their cooperation will produce.

west and east

Old economic comparisons are useful here.

After World War II, the Western bloc was united by a shared commitment to a Keynesian global order that sought freer trade in goods while retaining national economic autonomy.

In contrast, the Eastern Bloc organized trade through so-called Councils for Mutual Economic Assistance, which traded many goods between countries through planned barter arrangements rather than cash.

Ironically today, the Trump-Xi agenda looks more like the approach of the old Eastern Bloc.

Given this, the clearest sign that the G2 may be working outside the G20 or the larger rules-based order is not what Washington and Beijing are talking about. It’s a set of solvable issues that tie together issues like tariff relief, aircraft orders, rare earth access, chip restrictions, Taiwan and Iran.

In each case, it is reasonable for both countries to wish to coordinate policies. But together they point to a new global order in which the two superpowers increasingly call the shots in their own interests.

Chips and rare earths

Rare earths and advanced chips are the most obvious examples. Beijing wants access to the advanced semiconductors it needs to dominate the race for artificial intelligence.

Washington wants rare earths and critical minerals, whose importance has become more prominent as the conflict with Iran strains U.S. stockpiles of missiles, drones, air defense systems and other high-end military technology.

If these are exchanged, then this summit is not about economic liberalization. At stake is whether strategic technology remains a constraint on national security or becomes a bargaining chip in bilateral agreements.

Executive entourage

The business delegation accompanying Trump on this trip is pointing in the same direction.

The attendance of executives including Nvidia’s Jensen Huang, Apple’s Tim Cook, and Tesla and SpaceX’s Elon Musk made the summit look like a business negotiation.

According to reports, agreements on aircraft orders, agricultural product purchases, investment forums and business access may all be seen as signs of economic normalization.

But the issue is not just whether U.S. companies gain market access. The question is whether a commercial victory helps stabilize great power bargaining, while its geopolitical costs are borne elsewhere.

Any tariff agreement that countries eventually reach is likely to have the largest market impact. But the deal itself may be more important than meets the eye, allowing Trump to claim a business victory.

This may calm markets in the short term, but it highlights the potential for a longer-term exit from multilateral rules-based liberalization.

Warning on Taiwan, almost silent on Iran

The Taiwan issue loomed large at this week’s summit. On Thursday, Xi Jinping issued an unusually direct warning to Trump, saying the two countries could have “conflicts or even clashes” if the issue was not handled properly.

More broadly, the danger is not necessarily formal U.S. concessions to Taiwan. Taiwan and other regional actors bear the external costs of private bargaining.

If Taiwan becomes a variable in broader negotiations, the costs of U.S.-China cooperation may fall on those who are not present.

Iran and oil broaden the same logic. If Trump urges Xi Jinping to use China’s influence over Tehran, he is not just asking for diplomatic help. He sees Beijing as a co-hegemon in a great power bargain based on the ordering of some countries (the United States and China) and the exclusion of others.

This G2 may harm global public interests. It will also test whether middle powers such as Australia, Canada and European countries can retain their seats at the decision-making table or risk being “off the menu”, as Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney put it. GRS

Trump Mobile confirmed this week that deliveries of its gold T1 smartphone have begun, after repeated delays pushed the phone’s release well beyond its original 2025 launch target.

Debut “Trump Mobile” was announced last summer by the Trump Organization, the holding company for President Donald Trump’s business activities. According to USA Today , the film was originally scheduled to be released in August, but was later postponed to October.

What is the Trump T1 gold phone?

Trump Mobile says the gold T1 phone features a 6.78-inch display, Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, triple camera setup and 5,000mAh battery. According to its website, the phone will run the Android operating system.

Reuters reports that the phone recently received FCC certification and compatibility approval required for use on U.S. networks. American-made phones and call centers will be part of the service.

There is a $100 deposit required to order the phone, and the introductory price is $499.

In addition to device protection, Plan 47 will offer unlimited talk, text, data, and nationwide coverage on U.S. networks. According to its website, the plan costs $47.45 per month.

Delays, pre-order concerns and ‘Made in the USA’ controversy

this T1 phone Its rollout has been fraught with controversy for months.

According to Reuters, the device was initially marketed as a low-cost smartphone made in the United States. However, due to the lack of smartphone manufacturing infrastructure in the United States, industry analysts questioned whether such manufacturing was realistic at the announced price points, and the company later softened some of those claims.

edge and cbs News reports say Trump Mobile now says the first batch of phones are “assembled” in the United States, rather than being manufactured entirely domestically. CEO Pat O’Brien reportedly said future models will use “predominantly American-made components.”

Lawmakers and ethics experts also raised questions about the release because it used Trump’s name while the president was still in office, Reuters reported. Democrats raised concerns about possible conflicts of interest, raising questions about T-Mobile and opening a new tab on its ties to Trump-branded services.

The issue was put to rest after a White House official said there was no conflict of interest and that President Trump’s children were responsible for managing his assets.

Additionally, the booking process itself sparked backlash after Trump Mobile updated its terms and conditions earlier this year. Fortune reports that the revised pre-order statement states that a customer deposit “does not guarantee that the device will be produced or available for purchase.”

According to People magazine, some buyers have complained publicly that they have received little communication for months despite paying nearly a year ago.

However, after months of speculation, CEO Pat O’Brien told Reuters and USA Today on Monday that pre-order customers will start receiving devices “this week” and remaining orders will be filled in the coming weeks.

Taiwan spots 8 Chinese naval vessels, including one in its territorial waters, after Donald Trump's Beijing visit

Taiwan’s Defense Ministry said on Saturday that eight Chinese naval vessels and one official ship were spotted operating near Taiwan, a day after U.S. President Donald Trump concluded a high-profile visit to China that focused on discussions on Taiwan, trade and the war with Iran.Taiwan’s Ministry of National Defense said in a statement posted onThe Ministry of National Defense added that no Chinese military aircraft were sighted around Taiwan during the period. A day earlier, Taiwan reported seven Chinese naval vessels and one official vessel near its territorial waters.

Trump-Xi talks put Taiwan back in the spotlight

The latest military activity came shortly after Trump returned from Beijing following a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping, with Taiwan remaining one of the most sensitive issues on the agenda.Trump described the summit as a meeting between “two great countries” and said he believed China was unlikely to take aggressive action against Taiwan while he was in office.“I don’t think they’re going to do anything when I’m here. When I’m not here. I think they’re probably going to do anything, honestly,” Trump told Fox News after the summit.Trump also said that China does not want Taiwan to declare formal independence. “This is not an acquisition. They just don’t want to see this place — we call it a place because no one knows how to define it — but they don’t want to see it stand on its own,” he said.According to the Associated Press, Xi Jinping privately warned Trump during the talks that differences over Taiwan could plunge the United States and China into confrontation or conflict.

Questions about U.S. support for Taiwan

Trump’s comments also raised new questions about Washington’s long-term policy toward Taiwan. The US president has called Taiwan “a somewhat difficult problem” due to China’s geographical and military advantages.“When you look at the possibilities, you see China is a very, very powerful power. That’s a very small island. Think about it; it’s 59 miles away. We’re 9,500 miles away,” Trump told Fox News.Trump also confirmed that he has not yet decided whether to proceed with previously approved U.S. weapons programs against Taiwan after hearing objections from Xi Jinping during the visit. The proposed arms sales are still under review.

Tensions between China and Taiwan remain high

China claims Taiwan as part of its territory and has repeatedly vowed to bring the self-governing island under its control, including by force if necessary. However, Taiwan has its own government, military and economy and operates independently. This issue remains one of the biggest hot spots in U.S.-China relations. In recent years, Beijing has increased military pressure on Taiwan’s surrounding areas by frequently deploying its navy and air force near Taiwan.

McFarlane spoke about his friendship with Loftis and shared how he gives back to the racing community. What’s this Cletus MacFarlane Speaking of Kyle Loftis.

Kyle Loftis Funeral: What Cletus MacFarlane Said

McFarland delivered a long and moving speech in memory of Loftis, whose death has left the drag racing and street racing communities in mourning.

“I think these guys did a great job pointing out how effortlessly Kyle helped everyone around him and launched his career,” McFarland began. He continued: “I can’t tell you how many times Kyle has launched someone’s career or passion and put their life on a different trajectory than they imagined. The kind of person he is, it’s truly incredible.”

Additionally, McFarland remembered Loftis, saying, “It’s also unbelievable how many friends Kyle had. I think he had more friends than anyone I’ve ever known. He was one of the kindest, most loving people who could talk to anyone, but you know, he had the widest range of friends.”

Loftis’ friend also noted the large number of people the late video creator brought together, saying, “I mean, you look around the room and it’s really amazing the variety of people Kyle brought together. His unique skill of bringing people together was one of his greatest skills. If you look around, there’s a good chance Kyle introduced you to the person you were sitting next to.”

“However, his passion for cars was absolutely contagious. When we met Kyle, many of us had no idea the journey we were about to embark on,” McFarland said of Loftis. MacFarlane then recounted his meeting with Loftis.

“When I met Kyle…it was also at Sonic. Gosh, Kyle loved Sonic. I don’t know how much he was a boost to Sonic’s economy, especially in the Nebraska area, but he deserves some credit there. But, uh, after an invitation from Chase, I came to Sonic at 180th and Center. I remember seeing this guy stick a GoPro on Fox. At the time, you know, GoPro had just come out. YouTube was kind of just becoming a thing. I didn’t really know what was going on, but uh I had no idea this was Joey’s beater bomb that he was putting this GoPro on. And just a few minutes later, the Fox body is pulling out. There’s these street bikes behind it. Kyle’s in the car right behind. He’s got this huge camera. Never seen anything like this, you know? And I’m like, I’m 15 years old. I’m Like, it was the coolest thing I’ve ever seen in my life,” McFarlane recalled.

He added: “So, I jumped in my car and followed these guys and Kyle was in the back car coordinating the race. And sure enough, they ran down Center Street back to the race site, and then they stopped and I thought, that was the first street race I’ve ever seen. It was the coolest thing I’ve ever seen in my life.”

Speaking about his first interaction with Loftis, McFarland noted, “I went to Kyle, you know, because I could tell this guy that I thought he was responsible for the deal. And I was like, what are you going to do with this video? You know, that’s so cool. He said, ‘Oh, I’m going to put it on my YouTube channel, 1320 Videos.’ Will get up in the morning. ” I thought, “Oh my God, this is the coolest guy I’ve ever met.” “So, I came home and, like most of you probably, once you meet Kyle, you binge-watch 13, 20 videos, right? I watched as many videos as one person could watch in one night. I was completely blown away. My love for cars increased 10-fold after interacting with Kyle for a while. From this point on, my love for cars increased 10-fold. All I wanted to do in life was be a part of Kyle’s team.”

Speaking about the way Loftis inspires those around him, MacFarlane said: “I think a lot of you can relate to this, but all I want is a 1320 with the crew on it. video shirt. I just wanted to hang out with Kyle and see what he’s doing because obviously he’s doing cool stuff and everybody out there loves him and you know I can tell he’s the guy that holds it all together and I want to be inspired like him for the first time in my life. This is just a small example of how easily Kyle can inspire other people, I mean, you can’t watch the 1320 video and not want to put a bigger turbo on your car, right?

“Kyle’s passion for cars was so intense, right? That’s why we all know him. But if you really got to know him, his passion was really just documenting everything. I can guarantee that if he were here, he would have the most photos and videos on his phone in this room. He probably has about a hundred photos since this morning. Maybe that’s not enough. Maybe 250 photos at this time of day because he would see that brick structure. McFarlane also talked about his late friend who would be outside taking 20 Photos, that’s one of his best qualities, but I mean, he would pull out his phone and take pictures. He went on to tell an anecdote, saying, “I mean, I remember just driving down the road in Australia. Cooper and I were talking about this last night and there was a train on the side of the road, like driving, you know, just moving slowly. He slammed on the brakes. We cut to him filming from the passenger seat. I mean, we followed this train for about 20 minutes, you know, just getting video, rolling footage. And then uh, it’s just some never-before-seen footage. I’d love to see how much of his content gets exposed, but I mean, he takes a lot of videos and photos, and I’m sure you’ll remember that, man. We went to this zoo in Australia, I’m not kidding. I thought, Kyle, we could certainly go through the exhibit, like these little birds, but we did get photos and videos of every animal in the zoo and then another one on the way back. “

“I think a lot of you remember when Kyle first downloaded Snapchat. None of us were prepared for how much Snapchat Kyle was going to get. I don’t think the Snapchat servers were ready. I mean, he had to be the number one or top five user on Snapchat. I mean, his Snap The stories are so long. It’s unbelievable to want to read them all. But because Kyle is so special, you know, downloading Snapchat doesn’t count. So, it does lengthen the process, but if he chooses you on his Snapchat. Like, you must have been in a recent chat, or in a group chat, like, you got at least a hundred Snapchats, cars, birds, food, you name it, but he just loved documenting things, whether it was cars, or his friends, or anything interesting, and he was really good at that, and I’m going to miss those Snapchat quirks so much.

He praised the late video creator’s leadership, telling attendees, “I also think Kyle was one of the best leaders we could have ever asked for working for him. Whether you were working directly for 1320 video Work, or like I know a lot of you, as a volunteer at one of his events, he was really nice to us. It was like they were more of a party than a meeting. I don’t know how he did it, but it was awesome. And he, you know, he made these creative shirts and a lot of little things that were really great for us as a staff and he always went the extra mile to make sure that his staff or volunteers were really taken care of and went out of their way for us.”

MacFarlane recounted some funny moments with Loftis. He said, “I love Kyle’s sense of humor. I mean, you really have to go out of your way to annoy him. I mean, you can get away with a lot. I remember one time, Alec and I went to the uh front desk of our hotel and told him we needed a key to his room. It was 2:00 in the morning. Walked into his room, you know, and we had a couple drinks and we put the pizza on him. And Matt, you uh, I just remember we were in this shitty hotel and I could hear Kyle waking up and, you know, knowing it was us. I mean, he had never been more angry, you know, he was such a smart, funny guy.”

McFarland added: “Well, another funny story, one more before I go. I remember Kyle had a brand new drone. When DJI first launched it was like, right? Like it was state-of-the-art and we were in Colorado. There was a waterfall. Of course, Kyle was interested in that, right? Like it was a waterfall. It was like Kyle’s phone came out of his pocket. You know, we were like a magnet to this thing. I don’t even Knowing that whatever mission we had done before, but we saw the falls, it was like the first flight, you know, we hooked it up and Kyle got so close to the falls, you know, uh, the drone ended up flying into the falls and it was never spotted, but that’s the whole story of our boy Kyle, like he never missed a shot, he had to get in there, get the right photos, get the right video, it was awesome.”

McFarland concluded with emotion: “We were so lucky to have Kyle. So, let’s not let his legacy fade away. It’s time to spread the great ideas of 1320 Video more than ever. Put on your shirt. Put on your hat. Wear these stickers wherever you go. Most importantly, remember to smile like Kyle.”

McFarland recently posted about Loftis again on Facebook, writing: “My brother. Still speechless. He was the most inspiring person in my life.”

"Erica wants his place"Candace Owens reacts after Charlie Kirk named wife Erika as TPUSA successor before assassination
Candace Owens questions claims that Charlie Kirk chose his wife Erica Kirk as Turning Point’s successor before his assassination. Owens has expressed doubts about the authenticity of an audio recording allegedly taken during a private donor retreat in Aspen and has demanded that the full video footage be released. TPUSA declined, citing donor privacy concerns, further fueling the debate and controversy online.

Months after founder’s death, the future of Turning Point America has become the center of a new political storm Charlie Kirk. New reports about a private donor retreat in Aspen are now sparking online debate, leadership questions and growing tensions involving conservative commentator Candace Owens. At the center of the controversy is a reported conversation in 2025 in which Kirk allegedly revealed who he would want to lead Turning Point USA if anything were to happen to him. Since the recording itself has never been released publicly, the resurfaced claims sparked a backlash online.

Charlie Kirk reportedly named wife Erica as TPUSA heir before his death

According to the Daily Mail, Kirk answered questions about succession planning at a private donor retreat in Aspen, Colorado, months before his assassination in September 2025.“That’s a great question,” Kirk reportedly replied before outlining his vision for the organization’s future leadership.“If anything happened to me, I would appoint my wife to run Turning Point USA. Erica would do a great job,” he allegedly said at the party. The comments received widespread attention when TPUSA’s board of directors unanimously voted to appoint Erica Kirk as CEO just days after Charlie Kirk’s death.Several donors reportedly told the Daily Mail they remembered the conversation vividly. One board member claimed the leadership transition plan was widely understood internally.“The board already knew what the plan was because they discussed it with Charlie and everyone knew it,” the source reportedly explained. These resurfaced claims have intensified discussions surrounding the future direction of TPUSA, especially as the organization continues to experience one of the most exciting chapters in its history.

Candace Owens questions Charlie Kirk audio as TPUSA refuses to release it

While some conservatives immediately embraced the succession story, Candace Owens publicly questioned the veracity of the recording played during America Day.“The more I listen to it, the more it sounds like artificial intelligence,” Owens said on her podcast.Owens later stepped up pressure on TPUSA to publicly release the full Aspen retreat footage.“Why didn’t they release the video? Of course, if they captured the audio, they have the video,” Owens wrote on X.“Allegedly, at an Aspen retreat a few weeks before Charlie died, a donor asked ‘what happens if you die,’ and Charlie responded that he wanted Erica to take over. I’d like to see the video.”Owens later added: “That’s right. It would certainly go a long way toward dispelling the notion that Erica wants her own position. Releasing this video seems like an easy PR win.”However, TPUSA declined to publicly release the video. Representatives of the group reportedly argued that donor privacy policies prevented them from sharing recordings of private investor gatherings. As the political and online fallout continues, the unresolved questions surrounding the recording will only add fuel to an already emotionally charged debate.

Peters also denounced threats and political violence related to her case, including online calls from supporters to “storm” the prison where she is being held. “I condemn all bullying, threats and violence against voters, county clerks, election workers and other public officials,” she added.

She further revealed her plans after her release from prison. “After I am released from prison, I plan to do my best to support election integrity through legal means and advance the cause of prison reform based on my own personal experience to help ensure that the detention system is more fair and equitable for people of all ages,” Peters wrote.

Peters said in her statement that her experience in prison changed her perspective and that she now plans to focus on prison reform and election-related activism.

“My experience has given me a perspective that I plan to share with others to improve Colorado’s correctional system,” she wrote. She also thanked Polis for giving her “a second chance and early release.”

Why was Tina Peters sentenced to prison?

Peters, the former Mesa County clerk, is nationally known for being accused of facilitating unauthorized access to election system data after Joe Biden won the 2020 presidential election.

Prosecutors said Peters allowed an individual linked to election conspiracy theories to access secure voting equipment during a 2021 software update. Images and data from the county’s voting system were later leaked online and circulated among election fraud activists, The Guardian reported.

Peters has long claimed she was trying to preserve evidence of alleged election irregularities. Despite repeated findings by courts, election officials and independent audits, there is no evidence of widespread fraud that affected the 2020 election results.

As part of an ongoing campaign to spread misleading information about the 2020 election, trump card Polis frequently requested pardon for Peters. He granted Peters a federal pardon earlier this year, but it had no impact on her case because she was convicted of state crimes.

In 2024, a jury convicted Peters of three counts: first-degree official misconduct, conspiracy to commit a criminal offence, breach of duty and failure to comply with Secretary of State regulations. She was sentenced to nine years in prison.

After Trump repeatedly threatened to withhold funding from Colorado, Polis hinted in March that he was considering granting Peters some mercy before approving his commute on Friday.

Many fans have accused the rapper of needlessly dragging private conversations into the public eye, especially since Kai Senat recently exited the air after news of their breakup broke.Reaction on social media was sharply divided. Some users called the move immature and attention-seeking, while others defended Lil Tjay’s right to share interactions related to ongoing public tensions. The situation intensified as the rapper and Senat had previously had an off-camera confrontation. Although neither party immediately publicly escalated the issue, the online community quickly turned the incident into another celebrity online debate.Meanwhile, observers note that Lil Tjay has remained controversial in recent months. In addition to releasing new music and appearing on talk shows, the rapper has also been involved in public disputes involving other artists, including Royal Boston Ridge.

Lil Tjay controversy sparks speculation, Kai Cenat remains silent

While Lil Tjay briefly took control of the online conversation, Kai Cenat chose not to respond publicly. After cutting back on some live streaming activities, the streamer has recently focused more on his fashion brand and business ventures. This silence only fueled more speculation on social media. Some fans believe Senat deliberately avoided giving the controversy extra attention, while others believe the lack of response caused the situation to fizzle out faster than expected.A growing number of users are also questioning whether Lil Tjay’s behavior is partly an attempt to create momentum for his latest project. His latest album, They Just Ain’t You, has received modest attention on streaming, leading some online critics to accuse the rapper of creating drama to stay popular.Meanwhile, old tensions involving Offset have also resurfaced after reports linked Lil Tjay to past financial disputes and feuds in the rap world. For now, the feud appears to be cooling down publicly. Still, the incident once again highlights how quickly relationships, celebrity breakups and online influence collide in today’s entertainment world.

German Chancellor Mertz: I would not advise my children to live or study in the United States

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said on Friday he would advise his children not to live or study in the United States for now, citing a rapidly changing social climate that limits opportunities even for highly educated people. The comments highlighted tensions between the United States and its European allies under President Donald Trump, as trade disputes, the war in Ukraine and now the war in Iran put the NATO alliance under pressure. Mertz angered Trump last month when he said the United States had been humiliated in the war with Iran. Days later, Washington announced the withdrawal of some troops from Germany.Addressing a young audience at a Catholic conference in Würzburg, Merz said it was too easy to think about the state of the world in “catastrophe mode” and urged Germans to be more optimistic about their country’s potential.“I firmly believe that there are few countries in the world that offer such good opportunities, especially for young people, as Germany,” he said.“I would not now advise my children to go to the United States, get an education there and work there just because of the social atmosphere that suddenly developed there,” said Mertz, a 70-year-old father of three.“It’s hard for the best-educated people in America to find jobs today.”
