Delhi biker death: CM Gupta releases 8-point safety framework, seeks list of excavation sites

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta issued an eight-point safety framework to prevent accidents like the one in Janakpuri (where a cyclist died after falling into a hole dug by DJB) and sought a list of excavation sites in the city within three days. The chief minister expressed “very strong” views on Friday’s tragic accident in west Delhi’s Janakpuri area and has ordered all departments and executive agencies to take immediate time-bound action to prevent recurrence of such an incident, a statement from the Delhi CMO said.

“Expressing deep concern over the lapses in safety arrangements at excavation and excavation sites, the Chief Minister has directed strict implementation of safety norms and clear accountability of officials and contractors,” the statement said.On the instructions of the Chief Minister, the Chief Secretary issued a memorandum outlining an eight-point safety framework that must be followed without exception during all construction, repair and maintenance works involving excavation or excavation of roads, footpaths and underground facilities across the city.Under the eight-point directive, all workplaces are required to display appropriate and adequate warning signs in a prominent and sufficient position in advance at all entrances. Reflective lights, signal lights and luminous strips must be installed around excavation areas and barricades, especially at night and in conditions of low visibility.Gupta claimed that loss of life due to negligence was unacceptable and public safety could not be compromised under any circumstances. She said in the statement that once problems are discovered, they will be held accountable seriously. The statement further read: “The Chief Minister has made it clear that the safety of citizens is paramount. No corner will be cut by any department or contractor and enforcement on the ground will be closely monitored.”The directive applies to all departments and agencies under the administrative control of the Delhi government, including the Public Works Department (PWD), Department of Irrigation and Flood Control (I&FC), Delhi Jal Board (DJB), Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC), Distribution Companies (DISCOMs) and all other executing agencies and contractors. The chief minister also ordered all departments to erect strong, continuous and clearly visible barricades around the entire site to prevent accidental entry of pedestrians, cyclists and vehicles.Barricades must be set up in a way that eliminates the risk of accidents and ensures that excavated material or open excavations cannot be seen by passers-by or cause dust contamination. The CMO said the directive clarified the compliance responsibilities of relevant field officials and implementing agencies or contractors.Engineer-in-charge and site engineers have been directed to conduct regular inspections of all such work sites and ensure that prescribed safety measures are maintained throughout the execution period. In a time-bound initiative, all departments and organizations have been ordered to immediately conduct a review of all ongoing and recent excavations and excavations within Delhi. A comprehensive report must be submitted to the Office of the Chief Secretary within three days detailing the location of these sites, safety measures taken and corrective measures taken if deficiencies are found. The statement noted that the Chief Minister has made it clear that any violation, laxity or non-compliance of these instructions will be taken seriously. In case of accident, injury or loss of life due to negligence, severe disciplinary action will be taken against the responsible persons and institutions as prescribed, in addition to any other legal action.Departments have also been asked to issue immediate instructions to subordinate offices, field officers and executing agencies and ensure regular monitoring and strict enforcement of these safety measures at all workplaces, the statement added.

Peter Attiyah, Epstein spat sparks boycott call for CBS, Barry Weiss; TV doctors demand action

Dr. Jen Ashton, a popular TV doctor and former medical reporter for ABC News and “Good Morning America,” vowed not to appear on CBS until Bari Weiss fired Peter Attia. The latter’s name appears more than 1,700 times in the latest Jeffrey Epstein dossier released by the Justice Department.

Ashton has one demand: CBS fire Atiyah. “I will not be on CBS while Peter Attiyah is still under contract with CBS,” she said in an Instagram video. “I think that’s terrible for me, and I feel like the American people deserve more. I feel like they deserve information from a qualified, highly qualified, ethical person.”

Dr. Jen Ashton is a board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist and obesity medicine physician. She holds a master’s degree in nutrition from Columbia University.

“Working at a major news network involves something called a ethics clause. It’s not necessarily that you committed a crime. It’s about your behavior. I’ve seen people … get fired or suspended for sending over 1,700 emails with known and convicted pedophiles and criminals,” the 56-year-old added.

Atiyah has not been fired from CBS News. U.S. Justice Department documents show that the 52-year-old, known as the celebrity doctor, actively emailed Epstein between 2015 and 2019.

In one email, Atiyah can be seen talking about the “outrageous” lifestyle of the convicted sex financier and pedophile, which he could not “tell anyone”.

“Is that admirable, respectable and reflective of your desire to get information from people who may impact your life, health and well-being?” Ashton asked. “In my book, the answer is no,” she said.

Peter Rahal, founder of protein bar company David Protein, posted on the X (formerly Twitter) platform that Peter Attia has resigned as the company’s chief scientific officer.

CBS News is expected to sever ties with Atiyah, who was named a writer as part of editor-in-chief Barry Weiss’ strategy to restructure the business, The Wrap reports.

According to The Wrap, Weiss didn’t want to sever ties with Atiyah, which led to a fight between the CBS News CEO and Paramount.

In Monday’s X post, Atiyah denied any involvement in criminal activity. But he apologized and said he was “ashamed” of the emails, which included “vulgar, tasteless jokes”.

Maritime oil smuggling syndicate exposed: Coast Guard intercepts 3 vessels near Mumbai

New Delhi: indian coast guard The ICG on Friday intercepted three vessels about 100 nautical miles west of Mumbai, disrupting an international oil smuggling racket in a coordinated mid-sea operation on February 5-6.The operation was carried out following intelligence gathering through technology-supported maritime surveillance. According to the Coast Guard, these vessels are involved in the illegal transshipment of oil and oil-based cargo from conflict zones, using mid-sea ship-to-ship transfers in international waters to evade customs duties levied on coastal countries, including India. The Indian Coast Guard shared the details in a post on X, saying the operation was the result of a “well-coordinated sea and air operation.” The group “exploited mid-sea transshipments in international waters to move cheap oil from conflict zones to motorized tankers and evade tariffs on coastal countries,” the report said.Explaining the course of the operation, ICG said its technology-driven systems first detected a motor tanker exhibiting suspicious behavior within India’s Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ).This led to a digital investigation and analysis of data patterns, which revealed that two other vessels had converged on the tanker, raising suspicions of illegal oil transfers at sea.According to the Coast Guard, specialist boarding teams intercepted the three vessels and an ongoing search operation was conducted. “Electronic data corroboration, document verification and interrogation of the crew exposed the modus operandi and global processing network,” the ICG said in its post.Preliminary investigations revealed that the vessels frequently changed their identities to evade law enforcement by coastal states. The Coast Guard said the fraud ring was run by a network of handlers from multiple countries that coordinated the sale and transfer of oil cargo between seagoing vessels. The intercepted vessel is being escorted to Mumbai for further investigation and will be handed over to Indian Customs and other law enforcement agencies for legal action.Describing the broader significance of the operation, the Coast Guard said the strike strengthened India’s role as a “cyber provider of maritime security and guardian of the rules-based international order” in the region.

Conservative commentator and Indian-origin MAGA ally Dinesh D’Souza sparked a controversy after calling out a recently shared AI video of the former US president barack obama Michelle Obama was portrayed as a “funny and harmless” monkey. Social media accused him of hypocrisy, noting that he had previously condemned racist rhetoric against Indian-Americans in the US Republican movement.US President Donald Trump shared the video on Truth Social, which includes a 62-second clip in which the Obama family are depicted as apes. It also features other prominent Democrats, including Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden, who are depicted as animals. The video was condemned as racist across party lines.Trump said he “didn’t see” the Obamas’ part of the video and claimed he only watched the beginning before staff released it. “I didn’t make a mistake,” he told reporters. The post was later deleted amid backlash from Democrats and Republicans.D’Souza, himself an Indian-born Trump ally, responded by downplaying the racist content. “In context, this is both funny and harmless,” he wrote in an The internet reminded Dinesh that he was only in America fighting against anti-Indian hatred, and now he finds racism against black people (in this case, the Obamas) “funny.”Last year, D’Souza said he was appalled by the racist and anti-India rhetoric from some supporters of the American right. “The right never talks like this. So who on our side is legitimizing this despicable depravity?” he said. He called the abusive messages directed at him and other Indian-Americans degrading and said he had not seen such hatred in his 40-year career.Republican Senator Tim Scott described the video shared by Trump as “the most racist thing I’ve ever seen in the White House.” White House press secretary Carolyn Levitt initially defended it as an “Internet meme video” and told critics to “stop the false outrage.”

Goat jobs: Texas hires 300 goats to clear invasive brush in unique ecological move

Texas has taken an unconventional but proven approach to controlling invasive plants. 300 goats were brought in to clear dense brush on about 11 acres of public land near White Rock Lake in Dallas. Rather than using heavy machinery, the city relies on controlled grazing to remove privet and similar species that thrive near waterways. For about 10 days, the goats took turns moving across the fenced property. This method reduces soil disturbance and avoids the proximity of fuel-powered equipment to water sources, arousing strong public interest. The herd arrived and began grazing on Thursday and is expected to remain on site for about a week, according to local reports and a city news release.

Why use goats instead of machines?

Goats are natural browsers rather than herbivores. They prefer woody plants, vines and shrubs to grasses. This makes them particularly effective against invasive species such as privet, which are difficult to mow with a lawnmower. Goats can also reach uneven terrain, steep river banks and dense undergrowth that are difficult for machines to reach. They work without noise, emissions or soil compaction, making them suitable for urban parks and protected areas.

ecological damage caused Invasive shrubs

Invasive shrubs spread quickly, forming a thick canopy that blocks sunlight. Native plants are driven out, reducing plant diversity and destroying food sources for insects and birds. Along lakes and streams, these shrubs can alter soil moisture and reduce bank stability. Removing them helps restore a healthier ecosystem and allows native vegetation to recover over time.

how goat landscape Performed operations

The herd is managed by professional breeders and monitored at all times. Use temporary fencing to confine goats to a specific area. Once an area is fully browsed, the fence moves and the goats advance to the next area. This method ensures targeted clearing rather than random grazing. The project lasted a little more than a week and cost about $15,000, which officials said compared favorably with mechanical cleanup of sensitive areas.Grazing goats does more than clear vegetation. It reduces ground fuels that can fuel wildfires, especially during dry seasons. Animals also return nutrients to the soil through natural fertilization. Unlike machinery, goats do not leave behind cut plant waste that must be hauled away. This reduces transportation requirements and reduces overall emissions.City officials stress that goats are not a one-time solution. If the land is not managed, invasive plants may regrow. Follow-up work may include planting native species, manually removing regenerated vegetation, or repeating grazing in future seasons. As part of a wider management plan, goats can significantly reduce long-term maintenance.

A method popular in the United States

Goat landscaping is being used in cities and states across the United States, including parts of Texas, California and Colorado. It is increasingly used in wildfire prevention areas, parklands and utility corridors. While the Dallas project has attracted online jokes and viral attention, officials say it reflects a growing shift toward low-impact and nature-based land management solutions.
