Who is Emily Moreno?

Emily Moreno is the ex-wife of Max Miller and his daughter Ohio’s Senior Republican Senator Bernie Moreno. Max and Emily also have a daughter. They got married in 2022 and gave birth to a daughter in 2023. He filed for divorce in August 2024.

What are the abuse allegations?

In video obtained by police CNN In June, Moreno described an incident on New Year’s Eve in which she claimed Miller pointed a gun at her while she was changing a baby’s diaper. “I was changing the baby’s diaper and I couldn’t do it with the lights off. So I had to turn the lights on and it upset him,” she said. When asked when the gun came into effect, she said, “While I was changing my clothes,” and when asked what Miller did, she responded, “Put it on me.” A police incident report shows that someone allegedly put a gun to her head.

Moreno also described another incident in February, saying that when she arrived at Miller’s house to bring her daughter to a birthday party, Miller was angry “because I was just taking away his parenting time.” “He threw me against the wall and I hit the floor.”

In further court filings in response to Miller’s defamation lawsuit, Moreno claimed that in June 2024, before their divorce, Miller “took hot water from the pot in which he had just boiled eggs and threw it on me.” “I was so shocked that I fell to the floor and lay in the fetal position,” she said. “Congressman Miller got the sprayer out of the sink and continued to spray hot water on me.” She called it “the last straw that broke our marriage.”

How did Max Miller react?

Miller denies all charges. Calling the gun claim “a complete fabrication,” he said, “I don’t have a weapon like this easily accessible in my home. Every weapon I own is locked up.” He added, “I’m working hard to clear my name. The truth will come out.”

Regarding the wall-throwing accusation, Miller pointed to text messages he said Moreno later sent him inviting him to lunch, as well as Ring Camera video he shared online that he said showed Moreno leaving the home without incident. He also called the hot water allegation “a complete fabrication” and said a handwritten letter cited by Moreno referred to a political dispute with her father, not the alleged incident.

Miller also claimed Moreno suffered from mental illness, saying in a police interview that she had “a history of being diagnosed with bipolar disorder a long time ago.” Moreno’s attorneys deny she suffers from bipolar disorder, and her spokesman said Miller was “making accusations without evidence.”

The dispute between Miller and Moreno has escalated into a custody battle, a defamation lawsuit filed by Miller and restraining orders against both parties.
