WATCH: Brooklyn Bridge catches fire during 4th of July fireworks show
The Brooklyn Bridge briefly caught fire as fireworks were set off on the bridge during the Macy’s Fourth of July show over New York City’s East River on Saturday night.Videos circulating on social media showed flames and smoke billowing from parts of the bridge as fireworks continued to explode overhead. During the performance, fire broke out in at least three places on the bridge. According to a New York Post reporter, the flames were extinguished in about a minute.Mohamed Shaban, a 31-year-old Egyptian who witnessed the incident, said: “The fire started small and then grew bigger. There was too much black smoke.” “There were four fireworks at the same time. Some additional fireworks exploded due to the fire,” Kula added.It was unclear whether the bridge suffered any damage. According to the city’s fire department, two fire engines were dispatched to the fire.
