‘Vulgar and insulting’: Priyanka Gandhi criticizes Assam Chief Minister Sarma’s remarks on Haqq, seeks clarification from PM Modi

He said: “Haq is old and talks like a ‘pagal’ (madman). You insult the people first and then say you want to seek confirmation from the external affairs minister?” Earlier, Haq called for a central agency to investigate the allegations against the Assam chief minister.

Priyanka Gandhi posted on X that Salma’s comments were “derogatory”, “indecent” and “unacceptable”. She wrote: “Harg ji is one of the top leaders of the country. He is not only the face of the Congress party but also an enlightened spokesperson for Dalits and marginalized groups of the country. By insulting him, the BJP chief minister has insulted tens of millions of people across the country.”She added, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi must clarify to the nation: Does he agree with this insult to tens of millions of Indians?”
Rahul Gandhi’s request
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also spoke at X on Tuesday. He said Sarma’s “derogatory language” against Congress president Mallikarjun Haq was an insult to the entire SC/ST community. Prime Minister Modi’s silence “is not helplessness, but consent”, he added.“If the Prime Minister does not speak out when he sees the dignity of tens of millions of Dalits in the country being attacked, he is not only evading responsibility but is also party to this insult,” Rahul wrote.He further accused the BJP-RSS of having an “archaic and premeditated mentality” against Dalits. He added, “Whenever a Dalit leader speaks the truth, they stoop to humiliate him. This is the true character and face of the party.”
