A video shared by Collin Rugg on X shows alleged assassination of Charlie Kirk Taylor Robinson A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Monday, July 6, in Utah court. Robinson was talking to a woman, grinning occasionally.

This was the first time Robinson had come face to face with Charlie’s widow, Erica Kirk, and Charlie’s parents since the assassination.
“Charlie Kirk murder suspect Taylor Robinson laughed in court today just feet away from Erica Kirk, according to the Daily Mail,” Ruger wrote in the video. “The outlet reported that Robinson was seen laughing with his attorney, Kathy Nestor.”
“Charlie’s parents and Erica reportedly left the courtroom today as Utah Valley University Police Officer Chris Bagley began testifying about the moment Charlie was shot,” he added.

Erica Kirk and Charlie Kirk’s parents face off against Tyler Robinson for the first time
Kirk’s family released a statement to local media ahead of Monday’s proceedings, which are expected to last until Friday. “Each court proceeding is a painful reminder that his death and his loss have irrevocably affected our lives and the lives of his children,” Kirk’s widow Erica, his parents Robert and Catherine and sister Mary said, according to the BBC.
They added: “Out of respect for the judicial process, we will not comment further at this time. We ask for continued privacy while this process is dealt with and express our great sadness.”

Kirk, 31, was allegedly shot to death Robinson On September 10, 2025, attended a campus event in Utah. According to a statement from Utah Valley University (UVU), the shooting occurred around 12:20 pm local time during a student Q&A event at UVU in Orem.
The proceedings are similar to a mini-trial. Prosecutors plan to present DNA evidence linking Robinson to the alleged murder weapon, investigators’ testimony, autopsy results, eyewitness testimony and video of Kirk’s murder. They must provide all evidence and may use second-hand information or hearsay.

At the end of the hearing, state District Judge Tony Graf will decide whether the case should proceed. Graf declined a defense request to limit access to reporters and members of the public.
Prosecutors must prove there is reasonable cause to believe Robinson killed Kirk. This standard is actually lower than that of a trial, in which prosecutors are required to prove guilt “beyond a reasonable doubt.”
