TVK leader slams DMK: ‘Can’t win even 25-30 seats without Congress’

New Delhi: Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) on Monday took a jibe at the ruling DMK Chennai said without the Congress party’s alliance, it would be difficult to win 25 to 30 seats in the upcoming assembly elections. TVK leader CTR Nirmal Kumar claimed that the DMK’s current strength is heavily dependent on its partners and cannot be sustained independently, news agency PTI reported.“DMK could not have crossed 25 to 30 seats without Congress. That is the reality today. Even in 2006, DMK would not have crossed 30 seats without Congress. The chief minister is very aware of this,” Kumar told reporters.Kumar, whose party was founded by actor and politician Vijay, described the Congress as a “natural partner” respected around the world tamil nadu He also criticized the DMK leader for lacking “basic respect” for the National Party, which he said had led to friction within the ruling alliance. He added, “The DMK is in deep fear after seeing TVK’s on-the-ground reports and investigations. That’s why they are desperately trying to rope in anyone into their alliance, even parties like DMDK, which no one thought they would come into contact with.”Taking aim at the BJP, the TVK leader condemned its “religion-based politics”, specifically mentioning Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Tirupalankundram. He warned against attempts to turn peaceful holy places into “contentious areas like Ayodhya” and criticized the DMK government for inaction. “Stalin, who is in charge of law and order affairs, should have at least issued an advisory to the Prime Minister’s Office or moved a motion in the court to prevent this unnecessary controversy. The DMK is deliberately allowing this to happen to stir up religious politics on its own later,” he claimed.Regarding TVK’s election plans, Kumar said the party has completed preparatory workshops for all 234 assembly constituencies.
