Donald Trump on Wednesday announced a more than $22 billion overhaul of Dulles International Airport, the latest project the president has embarked on to make his mark on the nation’s capital region.

“It’s considered one of the worst airports in the world. We’re going to make it the best airport,” Trump told reporters. He said it was “another step in our ongoing efforts to make Washington, D.C., safe and beautiful again.”

U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, who spoke alongside Trump, said the project, whose main hub is United Airlines, would cost $22.5 billion.

Dulles Airport, about 25 miles from Washington, D.C., is the region’s main international airport, with more than 29 million passengers set to pass through the airport in 2025, an all-time high.

Trump has begun a series of other projects in the capital, including an overhaul of Washington’s famed Kennedy Center, which he engraved his name on before a court ordered its demolition in June.

He also spent $14 million to renovate the reflecting pool next to the Lincoln Memorial.

But soon after the work was completed, the new coating on the pool began peeling off and algae turned the water a murky green, something Trump has repeatedly blamed on vandals without providing evidence.

The US president has also demolished the East Wing of the White House, plans to build a massive ballroom and proposed building a massive arch across the Potomac River near Arlington National Cemetery, the sacred resting place of fallen American soldiers.

Trump also announced plans to renovate Washington’s East Potomac golf course, which he called a “shabby, worn-out” golf course, and said it could host major tournaments when the work is complete.
