Tulsi Gabbard resigned as director of national intelligence earlier this week after her husband abraham williamswas diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer.
Gabbard informed Trump of her decision during a White House meeting on Friday. Her last day leading the Office of the Director of National Intelligence is expected to be June 30, 2026.

“My husband Abraham was recently diagnosed with an extremely rare form of bone cancer” and “faces significant challenges in the weeks and months ahead.”
“At this time, I must retire from public service to stand by his side and fully support him through this battle,” she wrote.
Gabbard added, “Abraham has been my rock throughout our eleven years of marriage—steadfast throughout my deployments to East Africa on joint special operations missions, multiple political campaigns, and now in this role.”
“His strength and love sustained me through every challenge,” she continued. “I cannot in good conscience ask him to face this battle alone while I continue in this demanding and time-consuming position.”

Laura Loomer celebrates Gabbard’s resignation
Right-wing influencer Laura Loomer celebrated Gabbard’s resignation in a series of posts on X.
“Thank God Tulsi Gabbard resigned!!!” Loomer wrote, claiming “all our enemies love Tulsi.”

This is inexcusable behavior. Our commander in chief deserves an intelligence community that he truly trusts. Get rid of it!”
