For better or worse, tabs are an inherent part of the modern web browser experience. They separate information and help users manage multiple web pages in one window. But they also come with a big caveat. They make studying a subject complex and complicated. To address this issue, Google announced a new feature for its Chrome web browser that will make it easier for users to find detailed information without switching tabs.

Google Chrome gets smarter AI mode
Google announced several new artificial intelligence features to make it easier for users to access and engage with content on Chrome. First, when using AI mode on the Chrome desktop app, the web browser will now open web pages side-by-side with AI mode. This change is designed to make it easier for users to find relevant information, compare details, and ask follow-up questions without having to switch tabs. This not only helps maintain the search context, but also helps the user’s chain of thought.
To make it easier to understand, let’s say you are looking for a compact coffee machine for your apartment. When you search for machines in AI mode on Chrome, you’ll see a series of options that match your criteria. When you click a link for a specific model, it will open that link in a separate split-screen space within the same tab. Here, you can not only browse the content of the web link, but also use artificial intelligence mode to ask specific questions about the products in the link.
In addition to this, Google has also launched a new feature that allows users to search for information across open tabs. With this update, users will be able to select recent tabs by clicking on the new “plus” menu in the search box on the new tab page in Chrome desktop and mobile apps in AI mode. In addition to adding multiple tabs as input, users can also add images, PDF files, and other documents to find relevant information.
Finally, the company says users will be able to use tools like Canvas and image creation already available in AI mode through a new plus menu in Chrome.
Availability
Google has confirmed that it will launch these features in the US first and will expand them to more countries, including India, in the coming days.
