World’s hottest cities: India’s scorching heat turns cities into scorching hotspots

banda

Banda is located in the Bundelkhand region, an area with dry soil and sparse vegetation. Since the region has hot summers, this helps with rapid heating. Since there is little moisture in the air, solar radiation increases, causing high temperatures.

fatehpur

Fatehpur is located in the central region of the Ganges plain, where land warming has been significant even during prolonged droughts. The region generally experiences better weather conditions in April and May, conducive to continued warming. With no clouds or precipitation systems, temperatures stayed high throughout the day. Additionally, winds blowing into the area bring warm air.

Etava

Etawa has a semi-arid climate with hot summers. Etava’s landscape is highly efficient at absorbing heat. It also retains this heat very well, especially during the hot and sunny days of summer.

Bindji

Binder shares the same climatic characteristics due to its inland location. There is no huge body of water nearby, resulting in a lack of temperature regulation. This means temperatures rise rapidly during the day and fall slowly at night. The weather remains sunny and persistent, resulting in continued high temperatures.

Oriya

Auraiya often experiences sharp rises in temperatures during long periods of dry weather. The area is flat and the solar radiation is uninterrupted throughout the day. When combined with low humidity and minimal cloud cover, this results in rapid heating. This situation is common during heat wave phases in northern India.

Moradabad

Moradabad, located in the northern plains, also experiences extreme heat during severe heat wave conditions. Despite being farther north, it is still influenced by dry continental air masses. These conditions can reduce cooling effectiveness and cause daytime temperatures to rise significantly.

Kripalu

Kripalu Dham Mangarh is located in an area where the sun shines for a long time in summer. With no significant weather disturbance, temperatures can rise steadily. With minimal cloud disturbance, solar radiation remains high throughout the day, resulting in persistent high temperature conditions.

Prayagraj

Prayagraj, also known as Allahabad, experiences high temperatures due to its geographical location. It is located in the Indo-Gangetic plain and is heated intensely by the sun during summer. Dry winds and clear skies further contributed to the rise in temperatures, making it one of the hottest cities during the heat wave.

Gothard

Gohad is located in central India, where the effects of continental heating are particularly strong. The region’s lack of coastal influences means temperatures can rise unchecked. Long-term droughts and stable weather patterns tend to lead to persistently high temperatures in the summer.

to the bank

Bankura represents Eastern India in this list. Although the region may experience moisture, periods of drought can significantly increase temperature levels. When there is no rainfall and clear skies, heat can build up quickly. This resulted in similar conditions to those seen during the heat wave phase in central and northern regions.

Heat wave guidance issued by PIB

The guidelines have been India Meteorological DepartmentAffiliated to the Department of Earth Sciences, official communication from PIB. According to their report, temperatures in most parts of northwest, central and peninsular India ranged between 40°C and 44°C, with temperatures even higher in some places. Temperatures in many areas have increased by about 5°C compared with normal years. This means that heat stress is already present in these areas. The forecast shows that the heat wave will develop in parts of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and parts of central India. Coastal areas will experience hot and humid weather, while the northern plains will experience warm nights.Avoid sun exposure from midday to late afternoon. Drink plenty of fluids to stay hydrated. Wear loose-fitting cotton clothing to minimize heat stress. Avoid strenuous activities when it is very hot outside. This requires special care for children, the elderly and the sick. The IMD said timely access to information is critical to taking appropriate precautions to prevent heat stroke and heat exhaustion in these conditions that will arise in the coming days.
