New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday chaired a virtual meeting with chief ministers to review the impact of the conflict in the Middle East, with discussions focusing on fuel supplies, inflation and logistics amid rising global tensions.The focus of the meeting was to ensure coordinated action between the Center and states to manage potential disruptions triggered by the crisis, especially in energy supply and supply chains. The Prime Minister is chairing a meeting with Chief Ministers as part of efforts to assess preparedness and maintain stability in key sectors.Discussions also included a review of countries’ preparedness to deal with the consequences of conflict, including contingency plans for fuel supply and price pressures. As global energy markets are already under pressure, the center stressed the need for close coordination and timely response mechanisms.Officials said the interaction was aimed at strengthening the ‘Team India’ approach and ensuring that the Union government and states work together to address emerging challenges.Chief ministers of states subject to poll restrictions did not attend the meeting due to code of conduct provisions. Separate meetings will be held through the Cabinet Secretariat for state chief secretaries contesting elections to ensure administrative coordination without violating electoral norms.
