He revealed that he learned about his son’s death from the army captain.“He was posted to Jorhat due to track-related work in Tezpur. He used to share his work. He always tried not to make mistakes. His captain has officially conveyed to us that he (his son) is no more,” he said.As Indian Air Force officials tried to console the retired railway employee at his home at the New Subedar base in Nagpur, the distraught father occasionally regained his composure by saying that Purvesh was extremely proud to fly the fighter jets.Purvesh is survived by his parents and a sister who lives in the United States, a neighbor told the Press Trust of India news agency. Neighbors said Purvesh and his sister, an IIT student, had returned home 10 days ago for a family gathering. Ravindra also recalled family functions.“We spoke on Wednesday. His captain got in touch and informed us about the incident,” said Ravindra, his eyes moist.The Indian Air Force (IAF) said the Su-30MKI crashed in Assam’s Karbi Anglong district, about 60 kilometers from Jorhat, while it was on a training flight.
