TEHRI GARHWAL (Uttarakhand): Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Pushkar Singh Dhami Participating in the Tehri Lake Festival Himalayan-O2 2026 on Friday, the aim of establishing it as a major sports hub was highlighted. “Our government’s aim is to make Tehri an important place for water and adventure sports. A place where national and international athletes come to practice water sports and adventure sports,” he said in his address, adding that sports like kayaking, canoeing, jet skiing and scuba diving are encouraged.He added: “We will continue to work to accelerate the possibilities here and give them wings. We have already started this work. We will work hard to drive this work forward.” He stressed that the development of Tehri Lake was being carried out as part of Pratam Gram in Timan village and “Rs 130 crore has been invested in the development of Tehri Lake and construction of ring road.”He encouraged the players to pursue their sport and assured them of the government’s support. “I want to tell all our players that they should dedicate themselves to this sport and should keep this feeling in their hearts. I want to tell all the young players that they should move forward with full dedication, enthusiasm and confidence to achieve their dreams,” Dami said.“I am confident that in the future, you will make India and our country proud both at home and on the international stage,” he added. Tehri Lake is steadily becoming a major attraction for tourists from across India and abroad. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Dhami, tourism in Uttarakhand is gaining new status. The Prime Minister also emphasized that through tourism, new job opportunities are being created for local youth.
