Sharing his theory about Medina-Medina, Blagojevich said it was part of some kind of “gang initiation.” Blagojevich, a Democrat, was serving a 14-year prison sentence on federal corruption charges, which was shortened when President Trump commuted his sentence in 2020.

Blagojevich suggested in an X post that Medina-Medina murdered Gorman to impress local gangs.

Blagojevich wrote: “Sheridan Gorman’s killer is being held in solitary. I suspect Pritzker and the Democrats are hiding him to cover up the fact that this illegal immigrant killed an innocent young girl as part of a gang initiation. I know gangsters and how they operate. I lived with them for 8 years. I also know Pritzker and the Democrats. I bet I’m right.”

What we know about Jose Medina-Medina

According to court records, a warrant was issued for Medina’s arrest in 2023 after Medina stopped appearing in court on a shoplifting charge. Federal officials said the undocumented Venezuelan national should not have been released after his arrest in 2023.

Chicago police arrested Medina-Medina shortly after Gorman’s murder. Authorities used facial recognition software to compare images from surveillance footage to U.S. Customs and Border Protection records. CPD investigators said in the arrest report that the images matched Medina-Medina.

Medina-Medina faces first-degree murder and weapons charges, ABC 7 reported.
