New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Monday recommended that parties in the dispute between Rani Kapur and Priya Kapur over the Sona Group family trust should seek mediation and sought direction to declare the family trust “invalid” in response to a lawsuit filed by late industrialist Sunjay Kapur’s wife Priya Kapur and others against her mother.Justices JB Pardiwala and Vijay Bishnoi issued notice to Priya Kapur and others on a plea filed by 80-year-old Rani Kapur, claiming that the trust, set up in her name in October 2017, was the product of “forged, fabricated and fraudulent” documents. In view of the advanced age of the client, the judge asked both parties to choose mediation. The judge said: “Why are you fighting? This is not the age of your client to fight.” Mediate once and for all. Otherwise, it’s a waste. You are 80 years old. “The court referred the matter for further hearing on May 7.In the suit, Rani Kapoor seeks directions to permanently restrain the defendants — her daughter-in-law Priya Kapoor and others, including grandchildren — from exploiting or promoting the “RK Family Trust” in any manner.
