Carlisle tornado: Touchdowns reported in Trenton and Germantown; damage possible in Clinton County, IL

At least two tornadoes touched down in Clinton County, Illinois, on Monday night, with tornadoes reportedly touching near Trenton and Germantown and potentially causing severe damage as far as Carlisle, Radio Scanner reported.

Tornado Watch

Tornado Watch covers Illinois and missouri It has been extended into Tuesday evening as severe weather continues to move through the area.

Tornado Watch 160, which was originally scheduled to expire at 9 pm CDT, is now in effect until 11 pm CDT, according to the National Weather Service. The extension comes as conditions remain favorable for the development of tornadoes and other severe storms.

In Illinois, the watch includes eight counties in south-central and southwestern parts of the state: Bond, Clinton, Fayette, Marion and Washington counties in south-central Illinois, and Monroe, Randolph and St. Clair counties in the southwest.

In Missouri, five southeastern counties are regulated: Iron, Madison, Reynolds, St. Francois and St. Louis counties. Genevieve.

The viewing area includes the cities of Belleville, Cahokia, Centralia, Chester, Farmington, Salem, Sparta and Vandalia.

A tornado watch means conditions in and near the watch area are favorable for tornadoes and severe thunderstorms. Residents are urged to remain vigilant, monitor local weather dynamics and be prepared to evacuate if a warning is issued.

PDS Tornado Watch

A Special Danger Situation (PDS) tornado watch is also active for the broader area, including Booth Hill, Missouri, northeastern Arkansas, southern Illinois, western Kentucky, and western Tennessee.

Forecasters warned of the possibility of multiple tornadoes, some strong to severe (possibly EF3+), along with large hail up to 2.5 inches and damaging winds. The supercell developed ahead of the frontal boundary, producing several rounds of severe weather.
