Russia-Ukraine war: Drone scare over Moscow: Four airports closed, nearly 60 drones shot down
Four Moscow airports were briefly closed on Monday after Russian air defenses intercepted dozens of drones targeting the capital, authorities said.Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said on Telegram that 59 drones had been shot down and Russia’s aviation regulator temporarily suspended operations at all four airports to ensure flight safety. The airport closure comes as cross-border drone and missile attacks continue between Russia and Ukraine. Russia struck the Odessa region of southern Ukraine on Sunday night with an Iskander ballistic missile, killing one person and injuring three others, according to the region’s governor Ole Kiper. The strike hit an agricultural facility in the Odessa region, causing fires in vehicles and fuel storage tanks.
