“There is police activity on the pier. Anyone in the pier area is asked to evacuate safely. Catalina is closed between Torrance and Berrier. Please stay away from the pier area until further notice,” the Redondo Police Department said in the alert.

“The Redondo Beach Pier is being evacuated, looks like SWAT may be there. Helicopters using loudspeakers to evacuate fishermen,” one person wrote on the X (formerly Twitter) platform.
