‘He is a rat’: TMC’s Kunal Ghosh slams ‘Singham’ cop Ajay Pal Sharma for re-poll in Falta, demands suspension

New Delhi: Trinamool Congress Leader Kunal Ghosh on Sunday launched a scathing attack on IPS officer Ajay Pal Sharma, popularly known as ‘Singham’, demanding his suspension over alleged massive cheating in West Bengal’s Falta assembly constituency.“If there was massive fraud in Falta, what were they doing on the election day? If there was massive fraud during the polls, what were the ‘Singham’ officials doing? If the entire constituency of Singham’s district was rigged, then he is not Singham, he is a rat. He should have been suspended first. Accountability must be held. What was the military doing when the entire constituency was rigged?” asked Ghosh.

The attack occurred in election committee On May 21, a complete re-poll was ordered in all 285 polling stations in the Falta constituency, citing “serious electoral irregularities and subversion of the democratic process” during the April 29 vote.

Why EC ordered re-poll

A detailed order from the Election Commission showed that the preliminary review conducted on April 30 was seriously flawed. The review relied largely on paperwork and formal reports, while complaints filed by candidates and agents were not scrutinized in detail. Crucially, the video footage from the polling stations was not thoroughly censored. The BJP had earlier claimed that party logos on its electronic voting machines (EVMs) were allegedly affixed to several polling stations in Falta, preventing voters from choosing their option. Party leaders including Suvendu Adhikari raised the issue with senior leaders.
