‘Rape gangs’: UK MPs demand deportation of Pakistani men linked to grooming gangs
British MP Rupert Low read out testimonies from victims of Britain’s so-called grooming gang scandal, claiming several survivors said race and religion played a role in the abuse they suffered.Speaking of the testimonies, Lowe read out one victim’s account: “There were constant comments made that white girls, Christian girls, were seen as having less morals or lower values, while Muslim girls were described by some men as having dignity and a higher moral status. These comparisons were used to justify the way I was treated and to further humiliate and control me.”Lowe later outlined the next steps following the release of the report, which he called a “rape ring” investigation. He wrote in a post onHe added, “The list of targets is set and growing. For obvious reasons, this all has to be handled very carefully, but I am determined to act. We have said enough, now we need to act. Our goals are simple. Put people in jail. Deliver justice. Finally. We will act, not talk.”Lowe also called for criminals involved in grooming gang cases to be deported.“Our investigative report proves, beyond doubt, that there is an undeniable link between religion and rape gangs. Islam. As a nation, we need to have the courage to finally say this. The mass rape of vulnerable working-class white girls by gangs composed mainly of Pakistani Muslim men is pure unchecked evil. Our report outlines in detail what happened, why it happened and what we need to do to stop it happening again. This is an important day. “Lowe reiterated his intention to take legal action and said he would use his position as a member of Congress to push for accountability.“I intend to use my parliamentary privilege to name the perpetrators and their promoters in Parliament. This will be done very carefully and our legal team will be involved throughout to ensure that future prosecutions are not jeopardized. We are working with the authorities to help cases be opened and reopened, but I do not have high confidence in the system for the independent delivery of justice… That is why we are pursuing private prosecutions and civil proceedings. The list of goals has been identified and continues to grow. For obvious reasons this all had to be handled very carefully, but I was determined to take action. We’ve said enough, now we need action. Our goal is simple. Put people in jail. Justice is served. Finally,” he posted on X.The abuse of vulnerable young girls by grooming gangs remains a serious problem in parts of the UK, according to reports cited by Lowy, who claim such crimes continue to occur in a number of communities across the country.
