New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the upcoming G7 summit in France from June 15 to 17 and confirmed his presence at a high-level diplomatic event on the sidelines of the G7 foreign ministers’ meeting.External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar held talks with French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean-Noel Barrot at Cernay Abbey. Both sides welcomed Prime Minister Modi’s confirmation of attending the Evian Summit scheduled to be held in mid-June.The two ministers highlighted India’s role in the ongoing work of the G7, especially in addressing major macroeconomic imbalances, strengthening international partnerships and advancing the global solidarity framework.Discussions also focused broadly on the evolving situation in the Middle East. The French Embassy in India said both sides agreed to maintain close coordination, especially in ensuring security of the Strait of Hormuz, a vital global energy corridor.
