Although the fire burned 100 acres, progress has now been halted, according to WatchDuty, which tracks fire outbreaks across the United States. There was little social media reaction given the time of night.

One person shared a post on Facebook. “Vegetation Fire 07/20/26 Zacharias Fire 13100 Block of Rogers Rd, Patterson, Stanislaus County. [WATCHDUTY] 10:43PM Forward progress has stopped at 100-120 acres. Units still responding will continue to assist with cleanup efforts. 8:40 pm Units are on scene of a large vegetation fire. “Three additional Type 3 or Type 6 engines and a dozer have been requested to respond,” they wrote on their public page, sharing a photo. Zachariah’s Fire: Everything You Need to Know

According to WatchDuty, units were responding to a large vegetation fire at 8:40 p.m. Three additional Type 3 or Type 6 enginea bulldozer was needed at the time.

A further update stated, “Progress has stopped at 100-120 acres. Remaining responding units will continue to assist with cleanup efforts.”

The Paterson Fire Department has not officially commented on the incident. The cause of the fire is unclear. However, this occurred just days after the fire department performed a prescribed burn.

On July 19, the Paterson Fire Department released Notice “The Paterson Fire Department, along with partner agencies, will conduct on-site fire training burns at the Water Quality Control Facility located at 14901 Poplar Avenue on Monday, July 20 and Wednesday, July 22 through Friday, July 24 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.,” it reads.

“This live-fire burn exercise is part of the department’s ongoing training program. Such exercises help firefighters strengthen critical skills, improve coordination between agencies, and prepare for emergencies. Residents and businesses in the area may see smoke during scheduled burns. Firefighters will closely monitor burns to ensure safety and minimize impacts to surrounding communities,” it added.
