The WFI said that under anti-doping rules, wrestlers must serve a mandatory six-month notice period before returning. However, Vignesh, who became a mother 10 months ago, questioned the decision and refused to leave.Sakshi said she usually avoids political issues as Vignesh is now a member of Parliament, but she felt this issue was more important than politics.In a video shared on social media, Sakshi noted that many countries around the world have relaxed rules to help female athletes continue their careers after becoming mothers.“But our federation has put rules in place to stop Vinesh from making a comeback,” Sakshi said.She made a direct appeal to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya and the World FI to give Vinesh a fair chance.“I request the Prime Minister, the Sports Minister and the Women’s World Federation to take Vinesh to trial so that she too can win medals for the country and become an example for women to win medals after becoming mothers,” she added.Vinesh is retiring after a heartbreaking disqualification from the 2024 Paris Olympics, where she fell just 100 grams short of the weight limit before the final. Later, she entered politics and became the MLA from Jhurana constituency in Haryana.
