“As thunderstorms sweep across the city, New Yorkers should remain vigilant and take precautions,” New York City Emergency Management said in an update.
If you are in immediate danger, trapped by rising water or see a life-threatening situation, call 911.
“If you hear thunder, get in. Damaging winds are our main danger.”
Among them, the video comes from brooklyn Photos have surfaced showing the intersection of Wilson Avenue and Stockholm Street completely submerged, with pedestrians struggling to navigate the area.

Another frustrated New York City resident shared video of water pooling in her rental basement after earlier rain and thunderstorms.
“I came home to find my basement flooded during a thunderstorm and heavy rain. The landlord was too cheap and refused to help, leaving me to deal with it alone. I ended up yelling at her,” the user wrote.
“Now I’m stuck upstairs waiting for her handyman while she sits here. Can’t go to work tomorrow and she never reimburses me for damages. It’s a wonderful life renting in New York.”
Meanwhile, another New York City resident shared video of flooding on the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway, with water heading east to Queens At Exit 28.
The National Weather Service issued multiple weather warnings and special weather statements for parts of Long Island and New York City Wednesday night. An alert is in effect for Hampton Bays, Riverhead and Springs until 9:15pm, while separate alerts are in effect for Brentwood, Coram and Commack until 8:45pm. Another alert also included Coram, Shirley and Holbrook from the same period.
A special weather statement has been issued for Queens, Brentwood and Hempstead until 8:15 p.m. Officials warned residents to remain vigilant as thunderstorms brought heavy rain, gusty winds and hazardous driving conditions to several communities.

New York City Emergency Management announced multiple road closures. Officials are warning drivers to expect significant traffic delays and emergency response activity near Fulton Street and Hale Avenue in Brooklyn.
Several major highways in Queens were also closed due to flooding. The Long Island Expressway was closed in both directions on the Cross Island Parkway, and eastbound Grand Central Parkway was closed near the Van Wyck Expressway, authorities said.
In addition, the Van Wyck Expressway near Jewel Avenue is closed in both directions.
