A local independent journalist provided more details about the fire. He wrote on Facebook: “Reports of a fire following an explosion in the Belden area of ​​Jackson Township, with large amounts of black smoke rising into the sky. Authorities are currently on scene. Police are blocking Whipple Avenue in the area.”
“Preliminary information indicates this occurred at Fosnaught’s Auto Parts, which is located in Whipple near the intersection of Dressler and Whipple. The property is a scrapyard that handles scrap metal,” he added.
“The explosion is believed to have started the fire. The extent of the injuries is unknown at this time. The Jackson Township Fire Department is the primary responding department, with North Canton and Greene providing mutual aid at the scene.”
