New UAE-Saudi Arabia trade bridge launched to improve movement of goods and supply chain continuity amid regional tensions | World News

UAE-Saudi Arabia trade bridge

A new logistics link is being established between the UAE and Saudi Arabia as regional supply chains face pressure from ongoing geopolitical tensions related to the conflict between the United States, Israel and Iran. Saudi Ports has announced the construction of a trade bridge linking Sharjah and Dammam, aiming to make cargo movement in the Gulf faster and more reliable. The corridor aims to enable smoother movement of goods between the two cities by combining sea and land transport into one system. Rather than handling cargo separately at different stages, the plan will connect the ports with inland logistics networks, which is expected to shorten transit times and reduce delays. It also focuses on better coordination between ports and distribution centers to reduce disruptions in cargo movement. The project is developed through a partnership between the Saudi Ports Authority and Gulftainer. It will provide a direct connection between Sharjah and Dammam, enabling goods to move more easily across multiple modes of transport and speeding up cross-border cargo processing. Closer links between ports and inland distribution centers are expected to improve the way freight is handled and delivered. For businesses, the corridor is expected to make trade routes more reliable. It should help improve the flow of goods, strengthen distribution systems, and reduce uncertainty in transit times. This is particularly important for companies that rely on the steady flow of goods in the Gulf market.
