Nancy GuthrieToday co-host mom Savannah GuthrieShe has been missing for more than three months since she disappeared from her home in the Catalina Foothills of Tucson, Arizona.
Guthrie was reported missing after being taken from his residence on February 1, leading to an extensive investigation led by the Pima County Sheriff’s Department.
Authorities say the case remains active and detectives continue to pursue leads and urge the public to come forward with any relevant information that may aid the investigation.
As the case continues to take new twists and turns, FBI Director Kash Patel recently claimed that his agency had not been investigated in “four days.” During a Fox News Meetup with Sean Hannity, he mentioned that once they were cleared to participate in the investigation, their first action would be to release the video of the doorbell ringing for public viewing.
“We could have gotten it days ago. If we had, we might have gotten more data,” he added.
Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos fired back at Patel, explaining the decision to send DNA evidence to Florida, saying: “Decisions regarding the disposition of evidence are made at the scene based on operational necessity.”
His statement added: “The laboratory used by the Pima County Sheriff’s Department and the FBI’s Quantico laboratory have worked closely together from the beginning and will continue to collaborate on evidence analysis.”
Investigators are increasingly focusing on forensic material obtained from crime scenes, including biological evidence that can help identify those responsible.
Marca reported that a private laboratory in Florida recently sent DNA samples to the FBI, and analysis showed that blood stains found on Guthrie’s front porch may be consistent with the involvement of a “single kidnapper.”
Officials also confirmed that a glove found at the residence contained a viable DNA profile and is currently being matched to a national database.
In addition, hair samples found later in the detector have been sent for advanced testing. However, experts say results could take weeks or even months due to complex processing requirements, according to reports.
According to officials, the evidence will be critical in identifying the suspect and reconstructing the sequence of events on the night Nancy disappeared.
In the weeks after her disappearance, investigators received several ransom letters sent to media organizations. Some of the messages claimed that Guthrie was dead, while others suggested knowledge of her whereabouts and the identity of her kidnappers. However, none have proven reliable.
Authorities are still evaluating whether the communications are related to the individuals observed in the surveillance footage or if they were intended to deflect the investigation.
