“We have confirmed with the Pima County Elections Department that the recall process for Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos has been initiated. The application was submitted on March 12,” the reporter shared on X.
Nanos responded to the recall effort against him, saying “We know about the recall, it’s the people’s right. We will always respect the will of the people, that’s the root of democracy.”
Coleman added: “In order to move forward, 120,000 signatures must be collected within the next 120 days to prompt an actual recall. This follows a review of the handling of the Nancy Guthrie investigation.”
Although the kidnapping case attracted national attention, several aspects of Nanos’ handling of the case raised eyebrows. There was controversy over evidence being sent to a Florida lab instead of the FBI lab. Nanos, however, stood his ground on the matter.
