“On behalf of our entire family, we are deeply saddened by the passing of my beloved sister, Nancy Metayer-Bowen. She was not only a cherished member of our family, but a dedicated public servant who dedicated her life to improving the lives of others,” the post read.

The post added, “Throughout her years in public office, she led with integrity, compassion, and an unwavering sense of purpose. She believed in bringing people together, listened to those she served, and worked tirelessly to create positive change in her community. To us, she was a source of strength, wisdom, and love—a person who always put others before herself.”

The post added that while others saw Nancy as a “leader and advocate,” her family saw her as a “sister, daughter and friend who filled every room with warmth and laughter.”
