A representative from the senator’s office told the news organization that McConnell takes the overwhelming support he has received as he continues to recover in the hospital.
“The Senator continues to make progress and works closely with his staff on Kentucky and Senate matters during the Senate recess,” the representative added.

In 2025, McConnell announced that he would not seek re-election after the end of this term.
