Indian-American technology leader was killed by her husband during a domestic dispute in Georgia. His injured son asked neighbors for help
Earlier this week, a horrific scene unfolded in Georgia’s Laurel Creek Trail neighborhood, where a 23-year-old man was shot and killed by his father as he ran from neighbor to neighbor while his mother lay inside. The woman killed was Shital (Sheetal) Wrzesien, an Indian-American technology leader, but she died of her injuries.The incident occurred just before 8 p.m. According to the Cobb County Police Department, they removed the woman’s husband, 56-year-old Kirk B Wrzesien, 23-year-old Jason’s father, from the crime scene without incident. Investigators confirmed this was a domestic violence incident and there was no threat to the public.Kirk was charged with felony murder, two counts of aggravated assault and two counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. He is being held without bail at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center.A neighbor said they saw their injured son running from the house after being shot in the back and first tried to get help at a nearby house but were unable to get inside. He then ran to a second neighbor’s house, where the owner let him inside and helped stop the bleeding until emergency personnel arrived. Neighbors said the son arrived home just before 8pm and found his parents fighting.

Sheetal Wrzesien is a Georgia Tech alumnus and former engineering leader at Google with more than 20 years of experience in a variety of technical roles in organizations large and small.Sheetal grew up in England, India and Ghana (West Africa), according to a bio on Georgia Tech’s website. She moved to the United States to pursue a degree in computer science at the Georgia Institute of Technology. Sheetal is the named inventor on two software patents, has served on the Georgia Tech School of Computing Advisory Board, and is a member of the Georgia Tech Alumni Association Board of Directors.
