Missing Ohio father found dead inside CVS trash compactor after wife made desperate calls to search

A frantic cellphone search led to a heartbreaking discovery outside an Ohio pharmacy last week. Andrew Strand, a 34-year-old father of two, was found dead inside a trash compactor behind a CVS store in Shaker Heights after his wife, Jaymie, reported him missing after he failed to come home from get off work.Growing concerned, Jamie used his mobile phone location to find the store on Chagrin Avenue, where he had been doing contract work earlier in the day.Police attended the scene around 10pm and searched the property. During the search, police discovered Strand’s body inside a trash compactor at the rear of the building.“The circumstances of the death remain under investigation,” said Shaker Heights Police Commander John Cole. The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of death. “Our condolences go out to the family and friends of the deceased at this difficult time.”CVS said in a statement that it is cooperating fully with authorities as the investigation continues.Strand, a machinist who had recently started his own company, was remembered as a devoted husband and hands-on father.A GoFundMe page created to support his family says he was deeply involved in his children’s lives, coaching his son’s hockey and baseball teams and cheering his daughter on at dance and gymnastics events.“He recently started his own company, which he absolutely loves,” the fundraiser said. “Andy’s death was sudden and unexpected, leaving his family in turmoil.”Friends described him as reliable and kind, always stepping up for others in times of need. Nearly $20,000 has been raised to cover funeral expenses and provide financial support for his wife and children.The investigation into his death remains ongoing.
