The Department of Homeland Security also commended the agents for their “heroism and quick actions… that saved the life of a sweet, innocent child.”

“Had our agents not arrived on scene in a timely manner, it would have been a tragic outcome,” Deputy Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis told The Telegraph. “Because of their training, these two agents were able to save a life. Our agents are the best. They risk their lives every day to save American lives. President Trump and Secretary Noem will always stand with our law enforcement. If you saw a law enforcement officer today, thank them for their service.”

Minnesota ICE agents have faced widespread criticism in recent days following shootings Renee Nicole Goode and Alex Pretty. After the shooting, the Trump administration ended Operation Metro Surge, which deployed thousands of federal immigration agents to Minnesota to arrest illegal immigrants and investigate fraud.
