HoganHe, who died in July 2025 at the age of 71, provided his final interview in January for the documentary series, which begins airing on Wednesday, April 22. During the interview, the WWE icon revealed that he took more fentanyl than anyone his doctors had ever seen take.

At the time, in 2009, Hogan was divorcing ex-wife Linda Hogan, during which he claimed to have given her “everything to get away from.” This left him “broke” and forced him to return to wrestling. Hogan later joined TNA – Total Nonstop Wrestling, the second largest wrestling entertainment organization after wwe.

In the documentary, the WWE icon candidly discusses the most challenging moments of his life, revealing that he considered taking his own life during the chaos of his failed marriage.

Hogan talks about suicidal thoughts

Hogan and Linda married in 1983 and lived together for 26 years. They are the parents of two children, Brooke and gap. Their relationship came to public attention through the reality television show Hogan Knows Best, which showcased their family dynamics outside of the wrestling ring. Hogan said he expects the show will strengthen family bonds. However, the result was beyond his expectation. Their marriage eventually ended in a widely reported divorce in 2009.

Recalling one of his most challenging moments, Hogan said: “I came home, started drinking, you know, started taking pills, and I just went down this rabbit hole for a few days, and the next thing I knew, I was sitting in front of the bathroom with a gun in my mouth and no idea what I was doing,” People reported.

Former wrestling executive Eric Bischoff, who worked closely with Hogan during that period, also expressed his views in the documentary. “He was depressed, he was in pain. He was in the darkest, most devastating period of his life.”

Hogan’s shocking fentanyl revelations

In order to fulfill his contract commitments with TNA, Hogan stated that his body had “had enough” and revealed the shocking amount of fentanyl he had consumed at the time.

“I took 80 milligrams of fentanyl at two in the morning and stuck them under my gums,” he said, miming putting fentanyl in his mouth.

“I had two 300 mg fentanyl patches on my legs and they gave me six 1,500 mg fentanyl lollipops,” Hogan continued. “I went to the pharmacy and he said, ‘You should die. We’ve never seen anyone take so much fentanyl.'” “

Hogan recounted aspects of his illustrious career and personal life in a four-part Netflix documentary just months before his death from an acute myocardial infarction.

Days after his death, it was revealed that he had chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), a cancer that affects white blood cells – information that had not been previously disclosed.
