Melinda France Gates calls Jeffrey Epstein ‘evil’ after Bill Gates’ closed-door congressional hearing

In an interview with The Guardian, Melinda recalled a meeting with Epstein and said the experience made her feel uneasy. She revealed she had nightmares after the encounter and struggled emotionally while discussing him in interviews, CNN and The Independent reported.
“Have you ever been with someone in your life who you knew was evil?” Melinda told the Guardian. She added, “We need to listen to how we feel about other people.”
At another point in the conversation, she described Epstein as “an abomination, a horrible human being” while expressing sympathy for his victims. “My heart goes out to these young girls,” she said, according to The Independent.
Justice system ‘failed to do its job’
Melinda also criticized the U.S. justice system’s handling of Epstein, saying authorities failed to stop him despite years of accusations involving underage girls.
“The justice system is not doing its job. It is not doing its job. Completely stop. This could have been stopped,” she told the Guardian. “If we don’t want children to be harmed, the justice system has to work.”
According to CNN, Melinda became visibly emotional during the discussion and at one point said she did not want to continue answering questions about Epstein, saying the topic was difficult for her.
Bill Gates’ Congressional Testimony

Gates told lawmakers that Epstein sought to use sensitive information about his personal life, including his extramarital affairs, to force him to reconnect after the relationship ended.
In prepared remarks cited by multiple media outlets, Gates said Epstein was trying to project an “image of legitimacy” through relationships with influential figures and insisted he knew nothing about Epstein’s criminal activities at the time.
The billionaire also called his meeting with Epstein a “serious error in judgment.” “I should never have met Epstein in the first place,” he told lawmakers.

Melinda Gates, who divorced Bill Gates in 2021 after 27 years of marriage, has increasingly focused her philanthropy on women’s health care and empowerment initiatives.
According to The Guardian, she has invested $215 million in women’s health programs and continues to advocate for greater representation of women in leadership positions.
“When women use their full power, we see society differently,” she said. “We are the foundation of society. We are the foundation of families.”
She resigned from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in 2024.
