Melania Trump urges US to back transgender athlete ban, also supports LGBTQ+ rights, ‘respects everyone…’

Supreme Court ruling
The Supreme Court has ruled that states can ban transgender girls from competing on all-girls and all-girls school sports teams. On Tuesday, Idaho and West Virginia upheld the ban in a 6-3 decision.
Justice Brett Kavanaugh, writing for the majority, rejected arguments that restrictions on transgender athletes unconstitutionally discriminate based on sex or gender identity.
“In other words, can schools determine eligibility for women’s and girls’ sports based on biological sex? The answer is yes,” Kavanaugh wrote.
“Under Title IX and the Equal Protection Clause, we believe states can preserve women’s and girls’ sports for women whose biological sex is female. They can determine eligibility for women’s and girls’ sports based on biological sex. The Constitution and Title IX do not require an overhaul of women’s and girls’ sports throughout the United States,” he added.
