Jeff Bezos is quietly selling his $500 million superyacht Koru, one of the world’s largest sailboats, because it’s too big, Page Six reports. The superyacht even has a wooden sculpture modeled after his then-girlfriend and now-wife Lauren Sanchez on the bow. The superyacht has a $75 million support vessel, Abeona, although reports could not confirm whether Abeona was also part of the deal. Operating the two ships together costs $30 million per year.Koru means “circle” or “coil” in Maori and is based on the spiral shape of an unfolded silver fern leaf, like a necklace — a symbol that is special to the couple, as Bezos has previously cited on Instagram that Koru symbolizes new beginnings. At 417 feet long, the Koru is only the second largest ship in the world, while David Geffen’s Rising Sun is slightly larger at 453 feet. In 2025, the “Kulu” was refused berth in Monaco due to its large size. Even the yacht didn’t come near the lagoon where Bezos and Sanchez held their wedding in Venice. During the celebrations, the couple hosted separate foam parties on the yacht.
Bezos’ yacht built in the Netherlands has a reputation for trouble
When the Koru is delivered to Bezos in 2022, there are plans to dismantle a 95-year-old De Hef bridge so the massive ship can pass. The mast was removed after protests from locals. In 2023, The New York Times reported that the Kluu was too big to dock in the Florida Everglades, instead hanging out among less glamorous tankers and container ships. The superyacht has three towering masts and multiple decks, including one with a swimming pool. However, Koru has been part of the couple’s world tour, sailing around the world on Koru and partying with celebrity friends like Oprah Winfrey, Kim Kardashian, Leonardo DiCaprio, Katy Perry, Usher, and more.
