Indian-American woman Sarina Gupta’s shocking experience after racist incident at Stanford supermarket checkout goes viral
A woman in the United States has attracted widespread attention after she mentored an Indian woman waiting in line at a supermarket. supermarket Checkout in Stamford, Conn., “Go back to your damn country.”

Sarina Gupta, the subject of the tirade, told Eyewitness News she was even more surprised to learn that the woman in question was reportedly a nurse named Victoria Louise Mason.

“Returns were taking a little longer than usual and when the customer started to get a little impatient I suggested she use one of the other cash registers,” Gupta told Eyewitness News. “That’s when she lashed out at me for absolutely no reason and told me to go back to my country.”

Gupta pulled out his phone and recorded the entire tirade, which lasted about five minutes, in which another woman can be heard telling her: “Stay away from America. Go eat your bacon.”
“I’m shocked, I’ve never heard anyone say something like this out loud in public, what kind of world do we live in where people feel they have the right to say something like this?” Gupta mentioned.
Gupta uploaded the video to Tik Tok and nearly 39,000 views and 3,600 likes on Instagram respectively.
“This is not okay, it will never be okay, and if this happens you should feel empowered to speak out,” Gupta said.
“I was shocked, I had never heard anyone say something like this out loud in public, what kind of world do we live in where people feel they have the right to say something like this?” she told WABC.
Gupta further said the idea of someone like her working with highly disadvantaged people of color “is a scary thought to me.”
Nathaniel Weatherall Nursing Home releases statement
Several followers identified the woman’s place of employment, revealing she was a nurse.
Her employer, Stamford Township-owned Nathaniel Witherell Nursing Home, issued a statement saying: “Nathaniel Witherell is aware of a video circulating on social media involving an individual identified as one of our employees. We are deeply disturbed by the comments made in the video. These comments do not reflect Nathaniel Witherell’s values, policies or culture. We have a zero-tolerance policy against hate speech, discrimination and harassment of any kind. Nathaniel Witherell Witherell Committed to maintaining a diverse, inclusive and respectful environment for our employees, partners and the communities we serve.”
