‘Heavy hearts…’: Seattle ‘Miracle Lawyers’ immigration firm closes as clients face deportation
Immigration attorney Alexandra Lozano called herself a “miracle lawyer” as her career took off and soared because she claimed she solved impossible-to-win cases. Now known as a fraudster, the Seattle lawyer lives a lavish lifestyle with a private jet emblazoned with “Abogada” (lawyer). Nine people from Washington filed a lawsuit against Lozano, accusing her of misleading clients and forcing them to make false statements to immigration authorities. The lawsuit alleges that Lozano advised people to apply for immigration benefits when they were ineligible and made inaccurate or deceptive statements to immigration officials. She also submitted documents with client signatures without reviewing them. She filed green card applications with false information, charged exorbitant fees, initiated immigration proceedings that she knew were destined to fail, had employees memorize scripts to make deceptive promises, and relied solely on computer programs to develop legal strategies without her or other attorneys at her firm reviewing the documents. Some said they were facing deportation proceedings because of Lozano’s lies. After the complaint, Lozano resigned her law license to avoid disciplinary action, but now her firm has also announced it is closing.
