New Delhi: BJP Tamil Nadu vice-president Khushbu Sundar has expressed support for TVK chief Vijay for the chief ministership as the latter faced hurdles in government formation in the state after failing to secure majority by five MLAs.“As a citizen of Tamil Nadu, when people choose their chief minister, he should lead,” Khushbu Sundar said in a post on X.The BJP won one seat in Tamil Nadu in alliance with the AIADMK. The Congress claimed that the delay in inviting Vijay to form the government was a well-planned move by the BJP-led Centre, describing it as an “undemocratic” attempt to undermine the people’s mandate.Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar called Vijay twice in two days to ask him to submit letters of support from allied MLAs and other partners, effectively establishing a working majority before being invited to form the government. Both the DMK and AIADMK failed to secure a majority, leading to a deadlock in the Assembly. Smaller parties such as Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi, Pattali Makkal Katchi, Communist Party of India, Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPM), Indian Muslim League (IUML), Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazagam and Amma Makkal Munnettra Kazagam are now seen as potential champions in the government formation process.
